I reckon kamal as one of the most successful find in the last couple of years. Now our management should give confidence to players like kamal who has a true test temperament among all the strokeplayers in the current side instead of saying before the start of the series the malik has a guaranteed spot for the entire series. I don’t remember kamal failing in a single test since his debut and he has played against all major sides.
P.S. malik has no chance to get into the middle order in presence of younis inzi yousuf kamal afridi. But than you never know, we may see him in the next series as our new #6 batsman:( which will be a disaster.

1 home series against sri lanka broke hiM! he performed on aussie tour and indian tour even though he got 1 game, just look up the numbers dude!

As God (and GS posts) is my witness, I have always been supportive of our regular openers for the simple reason, Test cricket requires specialists for specialized positions. Test cricket is a totally different ball game and I keep on repeating Afridi’s experience, he is a changed player down the order but was never comfortable opening for Pakistan.
I agree with you, its not entirely unfair to Malik, after all he was the beneficiary, then again it was team management which should have shown better judgement cause it now means curtains for Malik in test matches.
Test cricket is all about consistency, Woolmer/inzi are correct in their assertion that they do not wish to alter the opening partnership for this series, but like Fkhan correctly said, it was based on a wrong premise. Had they used the same policy for regular openers like Taufeeq, Yasir or some other domestic player then atleast they would have tried a specialist instead of a mutated opener who can only lift the ball as required in one day cricket.
