Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Very disappointing statements by Vaughan blaming the flat pitches (our bowlers bowl on it too) and losing the toss for defeats (same can be said for their Ashes victory). He says England will surely win in Lahore IF given the chance :hehe: . Whiner!

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Excuses, excuses and just excuses. Its not only the players but also their fans. On another forum the english fans were whinning intially that Pakistan made spinning track in Multan which only helped kaneria as he was “unplayable” on day 5. Than after realizing that kaneria only took 5 wickets in first test and none in 2nd while the pacers took most of the wickets, now they are claiming the flat pitches responsible for Pakistan’s success so far in he series. They are not realizing that England are lacking a quality spinner in their side, their batting is also lacking the necessay skills to tackle a quality spinner on any pitch and finally they are lacking killer instinct.
We call India “chokers” in ODI crunch situations. I think we have our new Test match Chokers in the form of England who are constantly crumbling in crunch situations.
I hope we kick their a$$ big time in Lahore and than they also get the same treatment in India. There they will realize what truly is a spinner’s paradise. Where even Murli Kartik will be whipping their a$$ . That will be good enough for the so called # 1 side in the world to realize that they have to go long way to achieve the # 1 spot.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

^ haha, yes, I will be with India or once!

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Last two matches have been dominated by pacers, spinners have had a minimal impact. Where Giles and Kaneria have failed to dominate what makes ppl think Mushy will be effective? Last time Mush was given a chance it was very disappointing even though he had a exceptional county performance. Pitches in Pakistan are flat and slower relative to England which requires hard work from the bowlers.

Shoaib Malik is being selected as a regular batsman, if he does not score as required then argument of staying there for 5overs make no sense at all. By the same standard, Shoaib Akhter played 60balls in his second inning stand with Inzi, by the way it was a much better inning compared to Maliks performance cause it was played like a true test match inning where both batsmen rotated innings by taking quick singles. Compare that too Maliks innings, 60%+ runs have been scored thru boundaries. No wonder he always ends up playing a loose shot and gives up his wicket.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

^ I would rather have consistent 50+ opening stands, than risk giving catching practice to the slips in an effort for the occassional 100 once in every 5 test matches. Bob said he is pleased with the effort shown so far by the openers. Not ideal, definitley room for improvement but still an encouraging start.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

mediocrity has no excuses.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Its lot more consistency then mediocrity… Definitely he needs to learn a lot more… But so far its not bad at all..

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

As some new player are added to pool...can we change the fantasy team players...

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

^Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, no.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

:rotfl: :hehe: :rotfl: :hehe:

I think Asif shud get a chance in place of Sami…and it seems likely. Inzamam also said that Asif will get a chance. If they were going to play a new bowler, why not go with Umar Gul? I guess Asif is getting his chance because he played well against the English in the side game and Woolmer thinks really highly of Asif has repeatedly said that he has improved by leaps and bounds since his debut. Lets hope Woolmer is rite  :jhanda:

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Last time Pakistan tried an experiment on the basis of a warm up game it failed miserably with Hasan Raza. Those warm up games were held on really grassy wickets and are not a true indicator of how players will adapt to the new conditions and a high pressure situation. Umar Gul has the experience, has done in well in Lahore, why not go with him?

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

sami should go!
not got the X factor in him! lol

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

with a touch more than 36 hours to go into the match ...... anybody has any clue/news how the Pitch is likely to be ??????????

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

^ What kinda question is that? It's Flat!

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

The pitch they showed on on TV yesterday was grassy.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Umer Gul should've been played because he's been taking wickets and the last time he played in Lahore, he took 5 wickets against the Indians. On the other hand, Mohammad Asif is in form, and has done well in the side matches.

Yasir Hameed should be brought in as an opener in place of Younis Khan, and Malik should be at #3 (since Woolmer will not drop Malik from the squad). The team should be:

Yasir Hameed
Salman Butt
Shoaib Malik
Mohammad Yousaf
Inzimam ul Haq
Hasan Raza/Asim Kamal
Kamran Akmal
Rana Naved ul Hasan
Shoaib Akhtar
Mohammad Asif/Umer Gul
Danish Kaneria

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

sorry for asking but it would be interresting to know instead assuming

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Damnit, Younish Khan is out the 3rd Test too. So we'll be missing Afridi, Younis, Razzaq, and Shabbir. Not cool.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

i hope they dont play arshad, but it seemes like that this is what they r going to do....i would ruthar go with playing both Raza and Asim kamal, strengthen the batting line up in case if Pak has to bat last, which will help Pak play out the time for a drw, i alaso wanna see Moh Asig get in place of Sami, i think Pak had enough of Sami, and its time to bring a youngster i the team

OH BTW the umpires for the game are Haair and Rudi...so i say a controversy is not out of possibilities.

Re: Pakistan V England 3rd Test Match, Lahore

Anyone expecting a green wicket should wake up. Right now. Up 1-0 in the series and a green wicket? Don't really think so. Yasir Hameed would come in hopefully.
