Re: Pakistan V England - 1st Test match At Lords
True.
since it was the umpire's call, the original decision stayed after review (even though ball only clipping the leg stump)
However if the umpire had given it N.O. and Ball had reviewed it, the original N.O. decision would have been upheld (as ball hitting less than half of the stump)
Exactly my point. The umpire can always call close decision one way. And his call will be upheld. While politically correct western commentators - David Lloyd included - will never see this bias or never acknowledge it, I have seen it so many times it hlgets old in a hurry.
If we are using DRS, stick to the electronic result. Forget about umpires call stands on close calls.
And if we are going to use umpires call stands on close cqlls, at the very least, do not charge the challenging team with that count when they lose the challenge.
One Asian umpire whom I have see rule against India like western umpires do is Dharmasena. At least when I have seen him.
Aleem Dhar is the fairest umpire. I have full trust in him.
Re: Pakistan V England - 1st Test match At Lords
there has been a new ICC ruling on this issue. now on, umpire's call will mean nothing. if the ball even clips the stumps, it will be given OUT!.
i dunno the effective date for this new ruling.

This is not a list of players who played test cricket beyond the age of 40 but of most runs scored by players after reaching 40.
And I have nothing to do with it. Uploaded from stats guru..

Pakistan should reach 350 mark...give something to bowlers to ball and create pressure...

I dont consider it a bad score. But bowling should be above par to make sure Pak takes some lead. Its never easy to bat 4th inning so England will face some challenges but only if Pakistan bowls them out now and then adjust to a defining lead in next inning.
Re: Pakistan V England - 1st Test match At Lords
25.1
Mohammad Amir to Cook, no run, pitched up, draws the drive, Cook nicks through to Sarfraz... who shells another chance off Amir! Unbelievable! Amir is understandably a little miffed by all this. Sarfraz dived to his left and got to the ball, a fairly simple chance but it hit his wrists and then rebounded into his face, only lacking the comedy sound effect for complete embarrassment
