Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

And from that 19 he was smashed for two sixes

He will be our main bowler in WC

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Sadly what can a Malik fan boy can say now :D

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

I don't know what Malik and Nazir are doing in the team. If Afridi is fit, he deserves to be in the T20 team... at least for now - if only for his bowling and fielding efforts. Also in a match like today's, he might have been able to provide a vital breakthrough in the first ten overs.

In addition to him, we need a good hitter of the ball with proper batting technique and temperament - a tough ask in current circumstances I know.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

you can ask him when he shows up :D

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

I just asked him already in my previous post :D

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

I think Pakistani selectors missed a trick by not selecting Azhar Mahmood. He is still a quality all rounder in this format with both bat and ball.

I would personally stick with Nazir. It would be unfair to discard him when the likes of Imran Farhat are brought in again and again. Because Nazir is a proven performer in T20 and needs some confidence from selectors.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

We need to find the right batting combination for T20s, 7 batsmen that we think can consistently put up 150-160** but most **importantly chase down 160+/- totals. That should be our minimum goal. Against strong batting sides like India, South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka even 170 might not be enough on some days! esp. if the likes of Dhoni, DeVilliers, Kohli, Matthews, Watson, Hussey and Warner get going. If we aim for 170-180 we might get to 150-160 atleast

The other worry is our bowling. Ajmal and Gul are our most consistent T20 bowlers but they can only bowl a max. of 8 overs. Against good sides I can see Hafeez and Afridi being taken apart by the batsmen. But the 5th bowler is the biggest worry (Raza, Razzaq, Tanvir or Arafat). Arafat is a good fielder but his bowling is halwa. I will send Nazir 1-down as he seems low on confidence at the moment

In the present circumstances this is our besdt XI imo

Hafeez (c)
Nasir Jamshed
Imran Nazir/Ahmed Shehzad
Kamran Akmal
Umar Akmal
Razzaq
Afridi (might even think about opening with hit or miss Afridi)
Tanvir/Arafat/ (ideally need another good batting all-rounder like Razzaq, someone like Azhar Mahmood)
Gul
Raza Hasan
Ajmal

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Pak team are like a coke bottle…if you shake it too much, it will pop the top and fizzle out more than half of the bottle in 30 seconds…

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Pakistan’s fielding has always been their weakest link and their batting has always been unreliable and rubbish.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Heck even if we bat out of our skins, our bowlers and fielders still find a way to lose the game … could not even defend 191 (yes 191) against the Aussies in the last world cup, such is our legendary unpredictability … one freakish knock by Hussey spoilt the fun

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

I wish T20 cricket was of 25-30 overs. right now before the fireworks starts its already time to go home.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

pak will have to chase 160+ few times atleast if it wants to make it to finals.
but dont count on us, our team is pathetic in T20. it looks like the are not even interested in playing the shorter format. we could have sent Chennai supar kings team instead.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

GA ..I would not make too much out of this last loss …seriously…

However I do agree with you that yes, Pakistan is a very fragile outfit…if the top order doesnot click then the rest slide fast…

here is NZ’s scorecard today after their openers got out cheaply…they still bounced back…really hard..

New Zealand 167/5 (20/20 ov)
India 26/0 (2.5/20 ov)
India require another 142 runs with 10 wickets and 17.1 overs remaining

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

My observation is different: Pakistani team will collapse/slide regardless of whether top order performs or not. In recently concluded ODI you can see where openers provided really good platform but rest of the team could not build on it.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

^^ yes what I mentioned was 1 case...meaning they will slide if openers don't click...and then they "could" but not always slide even after openers set a good platform...
in general its a fragile line up....no one there to take the helm in case of emergency...

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Australia also collapsed badly in the first game but you have got to admit, among the major teams, Pakistan batting is more likely to misfire than any other team. You just hope that it doesn’t happen in one of the KO games … a huge huge ask imo. To win a mega tournament like the world cup, your batsmen have got to deliver in EVERY game. That’s a very big ask considering our unreliable batting

I know the series was already won but this was an international match not a benefit match. A more professional team like Australia would not have surrendered like us. Quite a disgusting batting performance. No excuse for it

If Australia were in Pakistan’s position they would’ve played yesterday’s T20 like it was a T20 WC Final. That is the difference between the respective approaches of the two teams

Sending a “batsman” (Malik) at #3 who’s atrocious against the swinging ball was plain stupid
**
The dead rubber excuse is irrelevant and unacceptable to me**

And the most important point … Our entire batting line up is made up of bits and pieces batsmen, with the possible exception of Nasir Jamshed. Besides Jamshed I don’t rate anyone else as a specialist batsman in today’s lineup, not even Umar Akmal. Sooner or later it was going to catch up with us and it happened yesterday. It all starts at the top, too bad Hafeez won’t put his ego aside and let a proper batsman open with NJ.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

Pak supporters are as fickle as Pak team, one loss and the worst comments come out. No one here has congratulated them on winning the series, didnt that matter and that also against a "professional" team like Aus who despite being "professional" were absolutely pathetic in their batting in the first T/20 and their "professionalism" could not finish the second match for them either. even yesterday their "professional" batting lineup cold not build on the fantastic opening partnership. Ghar kee murghi daal baraber.

I dont deny that Pak lost badly and batted pathetically yesterday but it happens all the time to all the teams. Look at what happened to England against SA in their first T/20 and the match against NZ India just could not finish it off and lost by one run. Hota hai. What we need to do is not being over critical.

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

This was not a defeat but an abject surrender

Other teams do lose but they do not collapse as badly or as often as Pakistan. That's the point.

It is not the defeat but the manner of defeat that is so hard to accept ... no fight shown whatsoever

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

So the series finishes with one drubbing each, and Pak winning one match in a super-over.

Congratulations to Pakistan on winning the series by ONE over

Re: Pakistan V Australia - 3rd T/20

What about 89 all out was that not an abject surrender of the professional team.
