Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Aus win with 10 balls to spare and 4 wickets

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Tanvir, what a useless waste of space. Our batsmen too are senseless.

So sad to see our pace attack so rubbish, without Ajmal we'd be useless. We also need to get rid of Afridi, guy contributes nothing to the team.

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

I m shoooo sad :naak:

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Its ok it was a close match our batsmen were 20 runs short. A score of 220/230 would have been winning. Not playing those last 5 overs was criminal.

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

I think shoaib Malik should be included :hmmm:

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

From Cricinfo:

That ends an absorbing low-scoring contest. Australia really had to slog for this. To overcome Pakistan's spinners in such conditions is no joke, but Clarke and Bailey showed that it could be done, even if it meant using up 50 overs.
Pakistan will look back at this and point to the fact that they failed to bat out 50 overs. Who knows what might have happened if they had added at least 20 more? Their bowlers and fielders did the best they could. The batsmen didn't.

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

no need to blame tanvir. what were you expecting, Aus to bat with avg of 4 till the end? one big over was always coming , that was the plan which should not surprise anyone. its an old school chase, unlike india which maintains the runrate since the begining.

if nothing than this match has exposed Aus in handling spinners, all their wickets were gone to spinners. so may be pak can plan accordingly.
this game also exposed pak middle order and a weak tail.
Aus held the nerve till end, kudos to pak for making a match out of just 200 to defend.

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

yeh kia hua? :(

when is the next match?

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Must declare the other wise condition now .. As afridi failed to score even a single run .. !:naraz:

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Pakistan was almost there. If K.Akmal or Afridi would have scored wisely. The scenario would be different today. Our team defended well even having a low score. Think about the temperature as well, Australia batted second when the temp was quite low. Thought Pakistani's are also professional but we should consider the human element ..

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Power play was taken at 35.1 over to 40.0 over. At this point of time our boys were left with no option, except to take the power play.

Kindly refer the link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerplay_cricket
From October 1, 2011, the ICC brought changes to the bowling and batting powerplays. Under the new rules, in a 50-over match, neither powerplay may be taken before the start of the 16th over and both must be completed before the commencement of the 41st over, so overs 11 to 15 and 41 to 50 cannot be powerplay overs. Should either or both teams choose not to exercise their discretion, their powerplay overs will automatically commence at the latest available point in the innings (e.g. in a 50-over innings with one unclaimed powerplay, it will begin at the start of the 36th over).

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Misbah loses the first match of what could (and should) be his last ODI series.

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Mujhe iss baat ka dukh nae hai k Misbah hamara kaptan hai, dukh toh mujhe iss baat ka hai k Hafeez hamara future kaptan ha

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Not playing (45.1 overs) your full quota of overs in a limited overs game is criminal, a cardinal sin. It is down to a lack of effective planning, temperament and mental toughness

It is even more criminal when the team involved (Pakistan) is one of the worst batting sides in the world

Perhaps Windies and BD even are more consistent with the bat these days

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

Batting is also about organising yourself and taking pressure (aside from skill and talent). Bowling less so. Since Pakistani players lack mental resilience and discipline, we continually fail in this department

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

And the most important factor is (whether we like to admit it or not) **Australia own Pakistan **even though the former may not be such a great side at the moment

You still expect Australia to beat Pakistan 70-80% of the time

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

We had Aus reeling at 60-4 and we couldnt get a wicket there .......cz we allowed easy singles for almost 15 overs straight

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

three things pakistan needs to work on for any future in cricket:
1. Batting
2. Batting
3. Batting

you can get away with crappy bowling but you need to have score on the board for any kind of fightback. gone are the days when batsmen used to be afraid of fast ball. now even tailenders can hit the best bowlers over the fence.

plus new rules and body guards arent helping bowlers either.

Re: Pakistan v Australia 1st ODI @ Sharjah

It is credit to the slow bowlers (even though our current pace bowling is crappy) that they were able to exert some pressure on the Aussies despite the pathetic total but don't blame them or the captain.

The sole blame lies on the batsmen

Seriously Pak did not deserve to win after yet another hopeless display with the bat (and wasting 29 deliveries)

These days our average score is 200+/- and 130+/- in ODIs and T20Is respectively. Even the best bowling in the world would find it hard to defend such low totals
