Pakistan Sri Lanka growing military alliance

While you are planning for Sri Lanka … in real world Sri Lanka is working with the tamils … told you … gotta get out more … you are spending too much of time on this forum back slapping each other

BBC NEWS | South Asia | ‘Tamil unit’ for Sri Lanka’s army

Let us hope we conquer Hindoostan and convert all of them this time on the path of Al-Sunnah

Good news for SL Tamils :k:

Indeed… Im glad for Sri Lankas Tamils. Many ex pat tamils havent visted their homeland in years.

But still the point of ths thread was to highlight the growing relationship btwn Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and how this is getting under the skin of the Indians:)

IF our army is that weak then why have not you conquered even a single inch of Indian kashmir after four attempts…

Re: Pakistan Sri Lanka growing military alliance

India used to speak for Tamil cause since LTTE turned into rogue organization if anything India has chastised them and whopped their a$$ by sending IPKF..

The monet Tamils got the political equality with sinhalese there was no reason for continuation of LTTE but as is the wont all such organizations get drunk on power and control and want more..

This should be a lessopn fopr Kahsmiri muslims you got not only political parity but have got special status in indian constitution so get on with life development and all that..

There is thriving media human rights watch and no Rajeev Gandhi would be able to rig an election llike he did in 1987.

Vajpayee created a great precdence by organizaing a fair poll in 2004 and UPA folowed suit with equally fair poll their no congress tyle rigign of election of yore..

So show maturity and sanity and get on with lives.. and fi you anythign nonsensical then example of LTTE is there Indian army is more than capable of pulverizing any cessationist terrorist activities..

I said your army would lose a war against any army equal its size (China). But in a conflict with a smaller force, it would be forced into a stale mate. Basically, Pakistan Army couldnt beat the Indian army outright, but could easily force it into a stalemate. Considering the Pakistan army is less then half the Indian armies size, speaks volumes for the superiority of the Pak army and the relative inferiority of the Indian Army... Indian history attests to this fact. Make sense now?!?

In 1999 we gave your army nightmares.....ask your indian army what hit them. Your leaders had to "beg" US.....to ask pak to withdraw it's troops.

Just imagine if Pak army can give you nightmares.....what will chinese do to you? Dude your 'brave' army will be wiped off.

The only thing indian army is good at is, backstabbing, raping women, killing civilans & torturing inoccents. Look whats happening in kashmir.

Your army cant fight face 2 face !

Sri Lanka has canceled arms purchases from Pak (and China) now that its war with LTTE is over…

Sri Lanka cancels arms purchase from Islamabad | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka has cancelled a $200 million purchase of ammunition from Pakistan and
China after the end of its war with the Tamil Tigers, the island nation’s new top military commander said
on Wednesday.
General Sarath Fonseka, who as army commander was one of the chief architects of the campaign to
destroy the separatist Tigers and end a 25-year war, on Sunday was named to the newly created post of
chief of defence staff.
“We stopped the orders of $200 million worth of ammunition from China and Pakistan with the war’s end,”
Fonseka said at his swearing-in. He is now in overall command of the military. The order would have been
enough ammunition to fire guns and heavy weapons at the rate seen during the climax of the war, which
ended on May 18, Fonseka said.
About 800 members of a breakaway Tiger group have also joined the armed forces, he said.
Sri Lanka wants a $1.9 billion International Monetary Fund loan to bolster foreign exchange reserves and
solve a balance of payments problem, and diplomats are closely watching to see if the military remains a
top government priority.
Western diplomats privately have frowned on plans to add 50,000 people to the security services, saying
that Sri Lanka should be spending its money on post-war rebuilding.
Overall defence spending this year was estimated at up to 200 billion rupees ($1.74 billion), accounting
for 17 percent of the country’s total estimated expenditure. The forecast came before the end of a war
that has always been a drag on Sri Lanka’s $40 billion economy.
Sri Lanka’s military and police, with a combined strength of 350,000, won one of the Asia’s longest modern
wars and declared victory over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam on May 18.

Re: Pakistan Sri Lanka growing military alliance

^^ So whats wrong in that, they have got rid of up rising, they have proved the capability to kill the LTTE kind of movement, the Friends of Srilanka have helped them in the cause, now when the war is over, they don't need any more weapons, they need funds to re-build, i guess that is wise decision from the general, this order might have been a older one, issued during the conflict..

But if Indians can find a moment to laugh and heal their wounds, then they are welcome to do so...

:sleep2:

Face2 face…Lol…that’s why we sneak in into others terrotory silently. Shame on you..you could not even accept your inferior army soldiers …You did not even pay tribute who fought for your country…shame..shame

There is no acceptance of soldiers which were dramatically wrapped up in pakistani uniforms.India is good at doing dramas, when is the mumbai drama movie coming out?

Re: Pakistan Sri Lanka growing military alliance

^^ A that is an old and flop show, they are working on new one but like all Bollywood hits, they have to steel the script from hollywood...

One of the reason why this war dragged on for so lng was because the Sri Lankans weren’t purchasing the arms required to take on the Tigers. There is a reason why Tigers could get away with air raids!

Now that the war is over, they dont need the huge defense spending.

Re: Pakistan Sri Lanka growing military alliance

*Gentlemen, please remain on topic. *

Yeah that is right you cant face us, face 2 face…there is a reason why your country is sponsoring these rats in Pakistan. What happened to Indian brave army in 2002? What were they doing on the border? Why didnt you attack us? And what about after Mumbai drama?

Get this in your head, your contry is a coward country, your army cant do nothing apart from raping, killing, torturing innocent civilans.

And as for that video what makes you think its real? Just because they were wrapped in pak flag does not mean they were pakistanis. The truth is Indian army got their asses kicked in 1999 and they had to find a way to hide thier embarrasment…hence this video… this is what India & your media is good at.

**

So, you wanted a war all the time. You know what happened in all three wars. :rotfl:

Pakistani is speaking about Bravery and Cowardice?..You know who are cowards. Those can not face in a open war. We did not sneak into your country in the middle of the night and fought guerella war. Baath karta hey…you are absolutely “Cowards”.

Does that highlighted sentences any make sense to you except showing your thick skinned attitude. Accept the truth. Do not live in denials all the time.

Chal meray munnay, aisa hi sahi, ab ja ker soo jaoo

I think its a mistake to cancel…

LTTE might have been defeated but they might spring up again…the Sri Lankan Army needs to be prepared

Re: Pakistan Sri Lanka growing military alliance

Pakistan has already supplied SriLanka with 22 Al-Khalid tanks. The finished deal indicates cancelling of Ammunation, not Weapons.

"During his talks with Pakistani military authorities, Lt-Gen Fonseka had finalised a deal as per which Pakistan sold 22 Al-Khalid tanks to Sri Lanka in a deal worth over US$100 million. General Fonseka also gave a shopping list of weaponry worth about US$65 million to the Pakistani military authorities. While the Sri Lankan army chief’s shopping list for the army was pegged at $25 million, the inventory for the Lankan Air Force was worth $40 million. He had further sought 250,000 rounds of 60mm, 81mm, 120mm and 130mm mortar ammunition worth US$ 25 million and 1, 50,000 hand grenades for immediate delivery to the Lankan army within a month. Pakistan also accepted the visiting General’s request to send one shipload of the wherewithal every 10 days to bolster the Lankan military efforts to take over Kilinochchi, the headquarters of the LTTE"

It was the Pakistani defence cooperation with Sri Lanka as one of the largest suppliers of high-tech military equipment that has played a major role in the ultimate defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) at the hands of the Lankan army.

The three decade long quest of the LTTE to carve out a separate state for Tamils, as well as the myth that the Tamil Tigers are militarily invincible, has effectively been laid to rest, along with its supremo, Velupillai Prabhakaran, and the entire LTTE top brass. According to well placed sources in the Pakistani establishment, defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan had grown significantly in recent years as Islamabad, unlike New Delhi, had no problems supplying the Lankan army state-of-the-art weaponry to accelerate its counter-insurgency operations against the LTTE which has finally ended with the killing of the most wanted Tamil guerilla fighter Vellupillai Prabhakaran. The sources say it was exactly a year ago in the first week of May 2008 that Sri Lankan Army Chief Lt-Gen Fonseka came to Pakistan and held detailed talks with his Pakistani counterpart Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani to finalise the purchase of high tech arms for the Lankan armed forces, which were embroiled in an intense battle with the LTTE forces even at that time.

During his talks with Pakistani military authorities, Lt-Gen Fonseka had finalised a deal as per which Pakistan sold 22 Al-Khalid tanks to Sri Lanka in a deal worth over US$100 million. Pakistan also accepted the visiting General’s request to send one shipload of the wherewithal every 10 days to bolster the Lankan military efforts to take over Kilinochchi, the headquarters of the LTTE.

On Jan 19, 2009, in a meeting between Pakistani Defence Secretary Lt-Gen (retd) Syed Athar Ali and his visiting Lankan counterpart Gotabhaya Rajapakse in Rawalpindi, the two countries had agreed to enhance cooperation in military training, exercises and intelligence sharing regarding terrorism. The agreement came amidst Sri Lankan media reports that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilots had participated in several successful air strikes against several military bases of the LTTE in August 2008. These reports further claimed that a highly trained group of the Pakistani armed forces officers is stationed in Colombo to guide the Sri Lankan security forces in their counter-insurgency operations against the LTTE.

However, it was not the first time that the Pakistan army was helping Sri Lanka militarily in its prolonged fight against the LTTE guerrilla fighters. Back in 2000, when LTTE offensive code-named Operation Ceaseless Waves overran Sri Lankan military positions in the north and captured the Elephant Pass Base and entered Jaffna, and was being feared that LTTE would run down thousands of Sri Lankan troops stationed in Jaffna, the Sri Lankans had sought Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System (MBRLS) and other high tech weaponry from Pakistan on urgent basis.

Subsequently, MBRLS and weapons and ammunition, including artillery shells and multi-barrel rocket launchers, were airlifted in an emergency operation from Karachi to Colombo in May 2000. Later, in 2006, the Sri Lankan authorities had again sought Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System (MBRLS) and other advanced weapons from Pakistan when Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Pakistan in March 2006 along with an 80-member delegation that included some high ranking military officials. During his talks with the Pakistani leaders, the Sri Lankan President had sought military help from Islamabad to effectively put an end to the LTTE separatist movement.

That the Lankan and the Pakistani armed forces had been working together in militarily stamping out the LTTE insurgency has already been confirmed by the Sri Lanka Army Spokesman, Brigadier Udaya Nanayakara, in a statement he had made on April 28, 2009, saying Pakistan and India had been training the Sri Lankan troops to deal with the LTTE forces. Separately but consistently, he said, the two countries had trained and equipped the Sri Lankan army to prepare and fight the LTTE. He said Lankan forces have been procuring the latest technology from both countries.

“We had been sending our military officers regularly to India and Pakistan for specialised training. I myself did four courses in India and three in Pakistan. We know they are rivals but we have nothing to do with that and we are benefited from both India and Pakistan,” said the Sri Lankan military spokesman, Brigadier Udaya Nanayakara.
