KHAR: Suspected militants targeting a pro-government tribal elder fired rockets at his home on Wednesday, missing him but killing a 12-year-old girl, an official said.
Five rockets were fired during the attack near the Afghan border in Kaga, a village in Bajur, said government official Javed Mahsud. He said that four of the rockets hit the home of tribal elder Fazal Mabood, injuring no one, but a fifth rocket landed in a nearby home and killed a girl there. AP
QUETTA: Five people were killed and 17 others were critically injured on Friday morning when a time bomb exploded in the Barkhan district of Balochistan, police said.
Police said the bomb had been planted in a garbage bin near a bus stand in the Rakhni area. Reuters said the blast killed six people. Area Police Chief Hafiz Inayatullah said tribal chief Nawab Akbar Bugti’s supporters were responsible for the blast, AP reported.
ISLAMABAD: A bomb exploded in the suburbs of the federal capital on Thursday morning, killing two labourers, police said.
They said that the blast occurred at an under-construction building in Garden Housing Scoiety, Sihala police jurisdiction. QUETTA: A time bomb exploded in a crowded market in the Baloch capital on Monday, injuring two policemen and three civilians, police said. The “low-intensity” device blew up in a shop in Quetta’s crowded Meezan Chowk market, police official Manzoor Bhatti told Agence France Presse.

QUETTA: Suspected tribal rebels blew up a key pipeline in Balochistan on Tuesday, leaving tens of thousands of people without gas, officials said.
The pre-dawn blast suspended natural gas supplies to provincial capital Quetta, as well as to the Kalat, Mastung, Ziarat and Pishin districts, a gas company official said on condition of anonymity. Repair work has begun on the ruptured section of the pipeline at Dasht, near Quetta, and supplies will hopefully be restored later Tuesday, the official added.

Around four cars and six motorcycles, which were parked nearby, were also heavily damaged due to the blast. Doctors at the state run hospital where the wounded were taken said two of the casualties were in a critical condition.

Earlier in the day, Quetta police managed to defuse an 18 kilogram explosive device from an abandoned bike in front of a local hotel in the crowded premises of the Liaquat Bazaar. “The explosives could lead to very heavy casualties if they explode,” police said.
