Re: Pakistan’s Punjab Problem
If someone Sikh occupy some land of others , There should be no problem with anyone to go back into its limit . Are you not afraid the day when Saraikis and Bahawalpuris will be fighting like Baangalis and Balochs .
Ganon say mulk naheen bantay , Mulk muhabbat say bantay aur nah rehtay hain.
Main to khud aap aksar ki tarah Punjabi hoon Agar Taasab hota to AAp kay sath hota

Re: Pakistan’s Punjab Problem
Very well said, i was born in Faisalabad but my dad’s whole family is from a town called Minchanabad (Bahawalpur), haven’t seen anyone hating Pakistan, Punjabis or anything like that. People like AP use South Punjab to criticise all Punjabis, as if they really care about South Punjabis.
We need to be Pakistanis first and obviously it’s hard for some people.
Pakistan’s problem is not Punjab but it’s lack of education, bad governance, corruption etc. Show me how Sindhis, Pashtuns, Balochis etc are any different to Punjabis?? All are corrupt, all lack education(except probably Urdu speaking people), all use influence to take advantage of poor people and many more things are common.
Punjab is blamed for everything just because majority of population is Punjabi, an average citizen in every province is as bad as others.
Do we seriously think anything would have been different if majority of our population was Sindhi, Balochi or Pashtuns?
It would have been exactly how it is now because of bad governance, corruption etc.
Re: Pakistan’s Punjab Problem
..So why were 10 lac Punjabis sacrificed in 47 ..... Period.
the 3rd June 47's partition committee had 10 members , no Bengali and only One Sikh representing the Sikhs of Punjab , Punjab which was a province that was conquered by the Biritsh in 1849 , the last one to Fall ,in a series of British Conquests that started in 1757 after Siraj ud daula's Fall .
Post 47 , Punjab entered an ERA of Cultural Colonization , read Ayaz Mir article again ...!! he does mentions the dilemma Punjabis faced ....should they Own their own rich cultural past that stretched back 5000-6000 years , of which Harrapa civilization , and Indus Saraswati civilization and Vedic Civilzation was a part...?? should they forget Poros , that nearly defeated Alaxander ....?? and the Lion hearted man , even errected a Mural at Taxila University depicting his own defeat , so that future generation might not distort history .....? or should they embrace what the Muslim Invaders brought .... Remember Babur defeated Sikander Lodhi , who himself was a Muslim...!!
in 1936's election , they decided to Keep their past with them ,and Muslim Leaque aka Nawabi Leaque won only 2 seats out of 84 .....
after this shamfull defeat by a party which claimed to be the sole representaives of Muslims in Muslim majority area , .....these vested interests changed tactics , they brought in Religion and Language , and sowed the seeds of communal ism in Punjab , and managed to get the Sinking Artificial Feudal Structure , that was erected by the British to control the Population of Punjab ,to their side , After Jinnah-Sikandar Pact , and to ensure a positive results , conditioned the 46's election to be based on Land holding , ......ie only those who had some Land in the land were allowed to vote , .....thus ensuring the feudal-nawabs alliance to succeed .....and Spin doctored a propaganda so effective the 10 lac Punjabis were Killed in 47 .....especially after some one killed the mother of Master Tara Singh in Pindi , that ensured a voilent reaction from the Sikhs , who were actually in consultation with Jinnah , at that time , and a point of no return.
and Punjabi were hoodwinked to go the other way , that is forget their rich glorious and thousands of years old heritage , and entered and ERA that I call Cultural Colonization ......Period.
...though this twist was actually started by the British , after they defeated Ranjit Singh and Introduced URDU , a manufactured language of Fort William College Calcutta , and were so successfull that Allama Iqbal a Punjabi did not wrote a single word in Punjabi , and later was given as a LOLIPOP present to the Punjabis for their sacrifices in 47 , after 51 , when he was introduced in the sllybus as " Pakistan ka khwab " deykhney wala Poet.
..there is an incident , After Tagore the Bengali won the Nobel Prize some one asked him why didn't Allama won it , despite being nominated 3-4 times for it , Allama presumly said , I did not had a developed language , which is strange as Punjabi is among those few languages in which a religious book is written ,along with Latin ,Hebrew and Arabic ] ....and Tagore said , yes I develped my Language ...and its in recognation for that effot.
Punjabis are still unaware of the swindle they were done , they are still hesitant to accept Bulley Shan , Mian Mir, Guru Nanak , incidently Garanth Pak contains a lot of Muslim sufi materal in it ] and a lot of other Sufi and humanists who rose above the narrow confines of a religion , they abondoned their language , their culture , Lost their land , lost 10 lacs of them , ....and Post 47 , Sapta Sindhu that was later Panj-Nad , the Land of 5 Rivers , is left as a Land of 2 and a Half river Only , after Sindh - Tass agreement , and one of its residents , that is the Sikhs , are now a nations who has their Ka'aaba in One country and Madina in another country , and slowly and gradually adopting " HIndabi " , with the Sanskratization of their Language , by the way , Sankrit too was a Language from earlier OLD Punjabi Prakrit , when Panini wrote its grammar , way way back ,when Aryans came here and brought with them the Vedic Culture , ...any way to cut short ..... Its time Punjabis start realizing what has happened to them , and where do they stand Now .....!!
Re: Pakistan’s Punjab Problem
^ good informative post, but as far as a million people killed during the partition is concerned, the main reason was the division of Punjab. The punjab as a whole should have come in Punjab as even the undivided province would have had Muslims over 70%.
Re: Pakistan’s Punjab Problem
^but half the punjab has caused so much damage and destruction to pakistan…imagine what a full punjab would’ve done

Re: Pakistan’s Punjab Problem
Pakistan did not became a sovereign nation untill 23 March 56 , it had a Governor General , hence under British Dominion till then , ....and the last state to join it was Swat ,probably in 1969 or so ....
correct me if I am wrong.
