Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

Just to put it in perspective, his comments were on being paid USD 1.2 Mn for playing 3 hours of cricket every 2-3 days for a period of 51 days. He is probably paid 10 times as much for every ball that he bowls in the IPL vs. in and ODI/Test representing his country.

It had nothing to do with the quality of cricket in IPL.

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

Also.. that comment was not "recent" at all.. that was way back when IPL started in 2008.. I think it was right after IPL-1.. over the years many key players have realized what a good competition IPL is to play at given how you play with players from different countries...

Have you guys seen Steyn bowl this season? He is running in as hard as he does for SA... there is as much anger in his eyes... the passion is clearly there to win...

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

^ Sure

ek nazar ugley saal k paycheck par bhi tau hogi

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

just how it is when you are playing for your national team... you want to do well so you get selected again and make more $$ and get more fame!!!

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

This is the first year IPL has been available in the US and the first year I am watching, but thats an observation I had too. Not just Steyn, all the international players are putting in as much into the game as they would playing for their respective countries.

Infact Tait clocked the fastest ball ever bowled in India (157 kmph) a few days ago.

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

I was only joking. For me it is just very hard to support any IPL team, the motivation just is'nt there, was n't even there when Pak players were playing in the 1st IPL!

I do not watch county or the Premier League (soccer) for the same reason. I watched almost every single game of FIFA World Cup in 2010

International matches (whether Pakistan are playing or not) any day for me

will be following England v SLA and England v India games this Summer for sure

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

I used to think the same thing, but got hooked to IPL once I started watching it. I think the level of competition just sucks you in.

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

^^ true..

the teams have really changed a lot this year.. they had to throw most players back into the auction pool because of the two new teams... so the "loyalty" that was built slowly in the first three season is shaken up now since too many players have moved around.. fortunately this won't happen again and only 1-2-3 players will change teams from now on..

besides the loyalty to a team.. i really enjoy watching international players from different countries play on the same team, and from same countries on different teams... that's always fun to see...

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

Yes, its really interesting when Sachin & Malinga plan to counter Sehwag and get him out :)

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

I agree with narkumar.
No more shame for our Pak cricketers.

Re: Pakistan plan IPL equivalent

There is an old saying "thanday taway per roti pakaney sai srif aata kharab hota hai"

So while I believe Idea is right, time is not. Unless its played IN PAKISTAN, I am doubtful about its success. I hope PCB start using their heads and put it of for at least 3-4 years. Let the environment get better in Pakistan.
