GM raises perpetual dependence on multinationals for seed, pesticides (of a very specific nature) and relevant technology. It tends to hamper soil fertility over time. Is prone to disease (much more than usual methods). But the “best part” of the technology is that the seeds and the resultant products are “patents” of the multinationals. Farmers have no rights over the seeds. Thus having GM in means lose control, possibly for good.
