Welcome to PakDay Mela.
City of Angeles, will now have the opportunity to see their favorite Pakistani stars - Abrar ul Haq and Rahim Shah- at the 59th Pakistan Independence Show organised by FOPUSA. The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 12th at South Exposition Park, in Los Angeles, California.
Abrar , Pakistan's hottest Singer, whose hit song, "Bilo Dey Ghar" , is all set to rock evening of 12th August with a spellbinding performance. He is a Pop star with a celebrity status. On numerous occasions, he was voted the most popular singer of Pakistan. One of the most recognizable faces in Pakistan and abroad, with a huge fan following. This is for the first time Abrar-Ul- Haq is performing live for Indpendence Day in LA. Recently he was in Delhi to promote his latest album 'Preeto' in Chemlsford Club. All albums released so far have been a mega success and been acclaimed both nationally and internationally.
Pop star Rahim Shah will dazzle the audience with his rendition of the track he composed, "Ishq " also from the melodious album Yarana.' This album marks the old-age friendship between Pakistan and Afghanistan, The song has won numerous awards all over Afghanistan for its evocative and lingering lyrics and voice.
Also performing will be Pakistani new talent, Sandra, whose chart-busting hit, "tere bin mein na rahoo gi" , it was a nominee for the best debut in the recent IM awards on going rage in South Asian nightclubs everywhere. The moving track voice has been one of the most popular songs of the year.
In addition, this year's hottest stars are all set to perform at the Pakistan Day Independence Mela, -Faisal Qazi, Farah Hasan, Tariq Tafu, Saniya as well as newcomers such as Shoaib Nasir.

The other mela is being promoted on geo tv every day. Ideally, there should be only one. In this case, we have 2 going on, and that too, on the exact same day. I hope 5abi and ykkb will try to resolve this issue. Any update on fireworks?

I called GEO TV and they said that there is one in New Jersey today (August 5, 2006) where Bushra Ansari, Atif etc. are coming, not Abrar. Abrar is supposed to come to LA, Aug 12, 2006. This is my limited info.

Jayzee, the other group doing the mela with Faakhir are under intense pressure to change the date or merge with us. The picture will become clear in a day. I dont want to say anymore about them at this time.

No firework this year. Abrar and Rahim Shah wont be performing tommorrow in Expositon Park, here in Los Angeles.
Due to P3 Visa issues, most planned shows will be affected this month.
We are still celebrating 59th Independence Mela, with Haroon, Arshad Mehmood, Omar Inayat, Farah Hassan, Shumail Khan and several local artist.
Show is all set, will be telecasted live broadcast back to Pakistan and around 125 countries via ARY Digital.
Local Broadcaster CH 4 NBC and CH18 will be covering the event too.
So see you there.
Show set up is complete and ready for rock and roll.

Haroon (formar Awaz) was there and ofcourse it was so much fun. But what happened to Abrar & Rahim shah. We didn't even know that Haroon was invited - well a good surpsrise.

Why Abrar Ul Haq didnt show up? Its a very long and sad story.
Our man YKKB spent countless sleepless days and nights on phone with Abrar, his manager, his promoter, US attorneys, US state department officials since last week. He and fellow volunteers did everything they could to make Abrar come to perform in this mela in LA.
Abrar performed in Toronto on Aug 6 with Rahim Shah and others and the same performers were to come to Los Angeles as well. Rahim Shah didnt get clearance from Homeland Security and Abrar failed to get his visa. He didnt even try to get his US visa from Pakistan. Instead he flew back to Pakistan from Toronto the next day.
It was when he had gone back to Lahore that YKKB contacted him and left no stone unturned to get him to perform in LA. But Abrar had a change of heart and was no longer interested in performing in LA, even tho he recorded the commercial that was played on ARY every 15 minutes that said "Mein Los Angeles mein aa raha hoon, wahan hum sab nay mil kar bhangray bhi daalnay hain". Abrar had so many excuses for not coming to LA.
Two of the most valuable things an artist has are his Image and Fan-support. After this debacle by Abrar, he lost both in the eyes of LA fans. The fans here got cheated and the organizers got cheated. And we will remember this in future. I will not be surprised if Abrar is unable to sign another deal in future to perform at a concert in LA or even California.
After it was learnt that Abrar wont be coming anymore, our man YKKB contaced several other artists including Fuzon, Atif Aslam, Ali Haider, Annie, Tariq Khan, Jal and even Junoon. Most were eother booked for another event, didnt have US visa or asked for too much money (Ali Azmat). We were finally able to get Haroon and we thank him for coming to LA in such a short notice and performing infront of the huge Pakistani audience.
The mela was a Paksitan Independence Day event, not an Abrar Ul Haq Concert. Our aim was to celebrate Pakistan's Independence and provide FREE entertainment to the people and in that we succeeded. Close to 10K people showed up and enjoyed every minute of it.
We hope to build from our success this year in future.
