Re: Pakistan Cup

Younis Khan have been drama queen in past as well, and this is idiotic from him. I guess it is his frustration which is looking for way out...he should take retirement and look for coaching job.

New talent must be given chance.

Re: Pakistan Cup

disappointed the way Younis Khan has behaved and this is not the first time he has misbehaved, remember his retirement from ODI's.

Re: Pakistan Cup

Dont know what happens to these good players at the end of their career... they dont end up gracefully.

Re: Pakistan Cup

How pathetic on part of Younis:

Younis ready to participate in Pakistan Cup after ‘apology’ - Sport - DAWN.COM

Re: Pakistan Cup

This is pathetic, PCB should’ve investigated this against the umpire.

Yes Younis Khan may have been wrong to quit this way but such blatant disregard for justice by umpire? Why should such nonsense be acceptable? What action has been taken against the umpire?

Re: Pakistan Cup

He is a senior player whom young players look upto and such childish behaviour cannot be excused. There are other avenues available to show his displeasure. He was definitely wrong and his tantrums are Afridish in style.

Re: Pakistan Cup

Whats going on here? After complaints about ground, pitch and stadium, now its players v/s PCB or players v/s players??

Re: Pakistan Cup

In another news, Punjab vs Islamabad (weird, province vs capital) game Punjab got bundled out for 213 in 43.3 overs and now Islamabad struggling at 87/7 in 22.2 overs.

Amad Butt, new pacer :k:

Re: Pakistan Cup

From 87/7 to 183 all out, well played Iftikhar (Islamabad) :k: but the efforts couldn’t secure victory.

Re: Pakistan Cup

Showing up is victory - let’s give the fighting Islamabadians a hand.

Re: Pakistan Cup

To certain extent I agree but when umpire act in such blatant unprofessional manner "oh this player can't be given out LBW in such time of the inning"... what??????????????????? If this had been an international game, what do you think would've been response of most captains?

Re: Pakistan Cup

Are they drunk or what? Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal can do this, they belong to low character category, did not know Bilawal Bhatti belongs there… that is shame !

Re: Pakistan Cup

You are right. Unfortunately, such decision is taken lightly if there was no connection between Misbah and concerned umpire, but when wrong decision is given and there is connection (both Misbah and questionable umpire was from Islamabad) than controversy starts (Players victim of wrong decision, feel completely uncomfortable).

On the other hand, LBW decisions in old days were mostly controversial, though TV umpiring has made LBW more acceptable. Review to teams are not available in Pakistan cup, hence controversy of LBW decision is expected.

Anyhow, Umpire saying that Misbah cannot be given out ‘LBW’ so early in his innings may be in jest but we know that most Pakhtuns by nature do not take jest as jest.

Here is story from Wisden:

Upset with umpiring, Younis leaves Pakistan Cup – WisdenIndia

Upset with umpiring, Younis leaves Pakistan Cup
Wisden India staff, Bangalore, April 24, 2016

Younis Khan returned home under controversial circumstances midway into the ongoing Pakistan Cup, the country’s premier domestic one-day tournament, after being dissatisfied with the umpiring standards.

Younis, the captain of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) – one of the five teams in the tournament – spoke out against the umpiring after a match against Punjab on Friday (April 22), which KPK won, and was subsequently fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the Pakistan Cricket Board’s domestic code of conduct. He was then summoned for a disciplinary hearing by Aziz-ur-Rehman, the match referee.

But that only served to anger Younis further, and he walked out of the tournament in protest. Ahmed Shahzad will take over as KPK captain for the remainder of the competition.

Younis’s irritation with the officiating began on Wednesday, when Shozab Raza, the umpire, turned down KPK’s lbw appeal against Misbah-ul-Haq, the Federal Areas Islamabad captain, at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. It proved decisive as Misbah (82 off 104 balls) went on to star in the side’s two-wicket win.

Then, on Friday, the third umpire adjudged Younis run out for 2 after a direct hit from Shoaib Malik – Raza was the TV umpire on that occasion. And later in the innings, the umpires chose not to call a waist-high full toss from Aamer Yamin, the Punjab pacer, a no-ball.

KPK got the result they wanted – a win by two runs – but that didn’t pacify Younis, who slammed the umpiring and called for the implementation of the Decision Review System in Pakistan’s domestic games. That led to him being pulled up, summoned for a hearing, and his subsequent walkout.

“Younis Khan was unhappy with the run out and the no-ball decisions during KPK’s innings,” Mukhtar Hussain, the KPK team manager, was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “He was fined by the match referee for criticising the umpiring decisions. He has decided to quit the tournament as he feels he cannot play in such an environment.”

Younis received support from Mohammad Yousuf, who agreed that the umpiring had been poor. “I was watching the match when the (Misbah) incident happened,” said Yousuf on a TV channel. “There is no doubt that Misbah was out and the ball was hitting middle.

“Younis being a captain had the right to ask the umpire that why he felt it was not out. The officials should have taken it lightly, (and the) referee should have not fined him. Umpires themselves make so many blunders in Pakistan’s domestic cricket. If the umpire didn’t give it out just because the batsman was Misbah then the PCB should ban the umpire instead.”

Re: Pakistan Cup

Younis appears to have anger management issues. Fortunate there was no fan near him to be beaten to pulp.

Re: Pakistan Cup

as the tourny continues , less and less hopes for any positives in battings. Only scoring being done by either the established batters or the 2nd string which already failed in int. arena. Hopeflyy sharjeel not gonaa terminated from T20 on his performance of pakistan cup.

Re: Pakistan Cup

A sensational match between KPK and Sind as KPK was able to pull it by 7 runs victory. KPK scored 319 with Ahmed shehzad scoring century (143).
In reply Sind was stumped in the begining with 3 quick wickets but a wonderful comeback by Khalid latif and Fawad Alam.
Khalid latif unbeaten 168 had almost made it for Sind. What a inning!

That being said, i think PCB should conduct a dope test of Shahzad, how did he manage to score these many runs :hehe:

Re: Pakistan Cup

^ Great match :k:

Re: Pakistan Cup

Another thrilling match in Pakistan cup.

Islamabad scored 315/8 runs batting first.
Inzi's nephew Imam-ul-haq scored century along with Kami Akmal.

An exciting and successful chase by Baluchistan. Azhar scored 80 and umar akmal scored 59. But the highlight was the blitz by Tanvir Kukri smashing 26 runs on 9 balls including the winning six on second-last ball.

Its great to see four 300+ innings in two days.
