Well, Australia said after the tour cancellation earlier in 2008 that due to the crunch window for 2009, they will visit Pakistan in “two” separate visits. Either the Tests are up first or ODI’s. If I remember, they did not talk about having a full tour. And especially not a word was said about having the series played in Abu Dhabi.
As things stand now, if India does not visit, that is the only place where Australia may play a ‘half-series’ with Pakistan. Sad state of affairs, from hosting Asia Cup on home soil to depending on UAE to host all Pakistan home games.
So if Sri Lanka visits Pakistan, what message is that going to send to BCCI for not sending Indian team? Is there any meaningful cricket besides 2 Tests with Sri Lanka? Not till July-August for a 3-test series with Sri Lanka again. The real series is not even until November 2009, everthing in-between is not proper cricket (ready to be sacrificed in the name of Twenty20).
