South Africa are overrated for sure, but at home they are a serious threat. I think they will back their batsmen to cope with the pace better than ours (and rightfully so), and prepare grassy wickets. Also don't forget the fielding factor, unlike Pakistan I don't think they'll drop too many.
If we had Akhtar and Asif, it would definitely have been a fascinating contest. But otherwise I think I'll be happy if we manage to salavage a draw.
you can't compare india to pakistan at this moment of time. Pakistan are doing very well without asif and akhtar better than most people thought. You can't base a team on 2 people. I think at this moment of time Pakistan have a good chance of beating SA in SA. This is understandable for India this there first time out of flat batting pitches in the sub - cont and I am including WI in nearly 2 years.
^True but which Pakistani batsmen can we say for sure can play on those kind of pitches?
Maybe a pinch hitter like Afridi can wack a 30 odd runs because he likes the ball rising up to him when he wacks and slogs...
but what about our middle order? If our middle order can get 150 runs by them selves I will be happily amazed...
pakistan drew the series with them back in the 90s when south africa was a better test team than they are now.shoaib akhtar played well in that one.i think pakistan has a pretty good chance of beating south africa with shoaib and asif back in the team.i mean the test matches.in one day series south africa would have the edge
