Re: Pakistan announced 15-men squad for first Test
^ According to our chief selector Abdul Qadir...Tanvir is not fully ready for test cricket.
Even though I hate to say it, but I do agree with Qadir on this one. With the likes of Talha, Khan, Mohammad Aamer, Wahab Riaz, Najaf Shah performing so well at the domestic level and then we have Gul to lead the attack...and maybe Mohammad Asif making a comeback in year and 'MAYBE' and a huge 'MAYBE' that Akhtar can be fully fit...there really isnt any room for Tanvir...especially in test matches.
Plus, Tanvir was in horrible bowling form against Sri Lanka in the ODI's.

My guess would be they picked Yasir Arafat because of his so called all round abilities and he has been in recent form in the domestic season. Where as Tanvir has struggled in the last few ODI's and struggled even more in the last test he played. I personally think it doesnt matter who you pick between the 2...they're both very medicore players and are not match winners.
If our bowling is gonna win us any matches, the only potential match winning bowlers I think we have are.... Umer Gul, Sohail Khan, and Mohammad Talha...because when they are on fire...they are unplayable.
Re: Pakistan announced 15-men squad for first Test
With what's happening between WI & England at Antigua now, Flintoff being injured. At least, England went in with 5 regular bowlers and part times like Collingwodd & Pitersen. For Pakistan to be going with only 4 bowlers (Yasir Arafat more of an all rounder), if injury happens they have to count on Shoaib Malik's part time bowling as the 5th bowler. That's scary. Whatever the team think-tank decides, hope it serves us well.

There’s been lot of talk about Mohammad Talha. I found these clips of him in YouTube. He doesn’t seem to be anything special from these clips, but he’s tall and lanky which will make him hard to negotiate if he keeps his line and length on target. And he does say he bowls 140k+.

afridi has always performed well in test matches …
but is always considered an ODI player…
i guess thts the reason he is upset

u really cant judge any1 from HK sixes perfomance
i guess in HongKong super sixes, tennis balls are used … even if they are using hard ball … its still 2nd class cricket …
I don’t know why everyone is being so negative about Akmal. Yes he drops simple catches at times which is annoying but the guy can atleast bat unlike Sarfaraz. Despite all the hype I keep reading about Sarfaraz, from what I have seen of him so far neither his keeping nor his batting is any better than Akmal’s.
Our batting (minus Yousuf) is thin as it is so dropping Akmal (who can bat) would not have been a very wise and sensible decision IMO. Akmal has the most test hundreds (5) of any Pakistani wicket-keeper. He is no Gilchrist or Sangakkara but his test average of almost 32 is very respectable.
And like him or not Akmal’s dismissal/innings ratio of 2.0 compares favourably with some of the top wicket-keepers of all time. That is pretty good considering:
he drops too many chances
our bowling has been mediocre at best in recent times i.e. Akmal never had the luxury of standing up to the two W’s (which is probably just as well!!)
