BONUS POINTS SYSTEM
*** Batsmen can earn 25 bonus points for each 100 runs scored (25 points for 100-199, 50 points for 200-299...)**
*** Bowlers can earn 30 bonus points for each 5 wickets haul**
*** Keeper can earn 20 bonus points for dismissing 5 or more players (catch + stumps)**
*** Players can earn 50 bonus points for getting Man of the match award.**
*** There are no bonus points for man of the series**
In ODI's a bowler hardly ever gets 5 wickets. Usually the ODI bowling stats are measured with 4-wicket hauls. Therefore, the bonus points should be for 4-wickets.
Again in ODI, 50s are much more common than 100s. Some bonus points should be awarded for a 50 too.
The biggest change of all: The only criteria you have mentioned to reward a bowler is wickets. In ODIs especially, the economy rate is very very important. For example, let's imagine this scenario:
Mohammad Asif: 10 overs, 24 runs, 1 wicket = 20 points
Rana Naved: 10 overs, 69 runs, 1 wicket = 20 points
You can easily tell that Rana bowled much more poorly than Asif, yet both got equal points because the system doesn't take into account the economy rate. Here's how to easily fix this: Allow each bowler to give away 5 runs per over. So for 10 overs, each bowler is allowed 50 runs. However many less runs are conceded, the bowler gets that many bonus points.
Points awarded = (Runs Allowed - Runs Conceded)
Plus of course the usual 20 points for a wicket. In the scenario above the points would be:
Mohammad Asif: 50-24 = 26 points + 20 points for 1 wicket = 46 points
Rana Naved: 50-69= -19 points + 20 points for 1 wicket = 1 point
These points accurately reflect the performance of each bowler.
