Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th

just woke up to catch the 2nd innings...
wut da feck just happened?!! and here I thought the 4th ODI was as bad as Pak could get :(

Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th

Something which often occur in testing cinditions. Difficult pitch in the beginning and placid later on. Add some crappy batting display from Pakistan and mind boggling shifts in batting order.

Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th

yeah this decision to bring Afridi up the order has been quite bizzare - I mean if armchair cricketers like us can discern that the team gets careworned of people getting out early in the innings and that Afridi is highly susceptible... I would expect Woolmer and Inzi to be more erudite about this fact.

KyuuN??? aakhir kyuuN??

Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th

I was just saying, otherwise I think anyone is better than our current openers like raddi paper wala, newspaper wala, aalo sabzi wala etc etc.

Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th

It was only 3 matches ago that we thought we had the whole team sorted out. We had good players, and we knew what roles they were in.

We had:

-- ShakyOpners
-- YounisKhan/Inzi/Yousuf Middle order
-- Afridi/Razzaq/Akmal late order
-- Bowlers

Then one defeat, and all of a sudden a change in order, a bizarre one at that. And the whole team falls a victim to it, eroding everyone's confidence, any semblence of players knowing their roles gone, and we are back to the drawing board.

This back to zero position is going to result in more cooks, more suggestions and even more experiments, and all only a few months before the world cup. Why o Why did they decide to have Afridi bat at number 3, and why couldn't they change the decision seeing we lost our first wicket with only 40 on the board and conditions not helpful.

I am not picking on Afridi here. I am picking on Woolmer/Inzi. Bringing up AFridi meant loss of one wicket would quickly change into a ' collapse' and furthermore it upset the role of every other player in the team as well. Yes the middle and lower middle order didn't recover, but how often does that happen. All teams suffer this fate when they ahve lost 2-3 wickets at the top of the order in quick succession.

Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th

I think all this talk of 'making the most out of the power plays' got to Inzi and Woolmer. I am all for makign the most out of power plays, but if it doesn't put you at the risk of having a collapse. You tell me, 40/3 after 15 overs, or 120/3 after 30, which one is more likely to put you in a winning position?

Re: Pak Vs Eng 5th ODI - Birmingham - September 10th
