Good comeback by Pakistan but they have to keep up the intensity on day 2.
cannot afford to be lax or concede a big first innings lead to SLA. With the ball seaming around, Pak have to make sure that they get early breakthroughs on day 2
**Although it looks even-stevens at present, one good partnership can still (potentially) take the game away from Pakistan and put Lanka in a very strong position
**Well-played both Asad and Junaid
That 84-run 8th-wicket partnership between Perera and Kulasekara has hurt us badly
Watch out for Samaraweera (usu. plays well against us) and Mathews - need to get them out early
Despite the familiar collapse (56/4), Pakistan did recover to 175/5 thanks to Asad and Misbah. But then Sami, Adnan (exempt from blame - fractured finger) and Gul played careless strokes and gifted their wickets away in the first innings. such small errors can make the difference between winning and losing a test
226 was a poor return from that position. should have made atleast 50-75 more IMO.
plus Lanka made us pay for the fielding lapses (I guess there is no point moaning about it)
33.5
Fernando to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, swatted from well outside off stump to deep square and that is fifty for Mohammad Hafeez, and Pakistan have almost wiped out the deficit
Dr Hammad: "Misbah is becoming a legend. yesterday i was reading a column, a political one, and he symbolised slowness of something, not with snails pace, but with misbah's batting. oh, we love you misbah, a true legend!" Doesnt someone symbolise solidity or stability with Misbah?
Fernando to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, and it is Dilhara who has broken through just before lunch

Fernando to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, and it is Dilhara who has broken through just before lunch, a wide and full delivery, angled away, there have been far better ones that have been played far better this morning, this time Hafeez throws his bat at it for a big drive, and a thick edge flies chest-high to the lone slip

*92 for 1 in 32 overs for Pakistan in the morning session. Not bad at all, considering they were facing conflicting objectives and lots of testing swing bowling. They had to be careful for they were facing a deficit; they had to also score quickly enough to build a decent lead by the end of the day. Managed it well in the end.
