Not true. SA struggled in their earlier test matches right after their reentry to test cricket in 1992 incl. this game against Windies which they (SA) should have won
And lets not base our judgement on performance in the last two games against SLA. Disappointing yes but one can’t say that they were one-sided games. Can’t really fault the bowlers who have not let Sri Lanka pile up huge totals so far in the series; the batters have let us down. I expect Pakistan to improve if they start playing regularly again. Just give them another year or so.
Even so Pakistan has the third best test record after Australia and England
I became `wordless for a couple of seconds' seeing your comparison between India and Pak Hockey histroy.
Dude Right from 1928 Amsterdam Olympics to 1960 Rome India was the sole winner in Olympics Hockey games.Straight six Olympic Gold Medals, winning 24 consecutive matches !!!!The Indian stranglehold over the Olympic hockey gold came to an end, when Pakistan defeated India in the final of the 1960 Rome Olympics. However, the record created by India is likely to stand strong through ages, as no other country has ever managed to come close to it, leave about beating it.This feast continued in 1964 and 1980!!!
Yes I am really ashamed Pakistan didn't win any Olympic gold prior to 1947!!!! Pakistan can lay as much claim to 1928, 1932, and 1936 golds as India. And that 1980 Olympics you mention, isn't it the same Olympics (Moscow) that was boycotted by most of the West, as well as Pakistan?
Arleitter..Do not force tullebaazi champions to perform better in tests where the skills are really needed…and moreover, they do not have ‘practise’ in last two years.
After mentioning that “recent” series (less than 12 months ago), which incidentally happened right after India 20/20 triumph, I do recall Srilankas first test victory which was against India right after the mini world cup which India won in 85, and the WC in 83. That was also Srilankas first series win.
Im all for "resting" Malik and Misbah for the last test and giving Faisal and Razzak a go. Apart from that there are no real possible changes except maybe Manzoor, who I think shouldbe given another chance after a good opening partnership in the 2nd test.

Who knows better than you guys of having "too much" practice for some format of the game ;)

Nobody seems to like the idea apart from me :)
I wouldn't rest Malik or Misbah. Malik has the experience, and Misbah has the talent to come good any time. Razzaq should not be played in the Tests. Faisal only finds a place if someone else from the middle order is kicked out, which I don't think is a good idea.
I w’d rather discuss cricket here but since u brought it up…
You are right about the Indian hockey team’s earlier domination in Olympics but they have not won a major hockey title since the Moscow Olympics in 1980 in which Pakistan and many other major nations did not participate!!!
Pakistan once held all three major hockey titles - World Cup (1978 and 1982), Olympics (1984) and Champions Trophy - simultaneously in the early 80s.
And despite their recent indifferent form, Pakistan has won more hockey world cups (4) than any other nation winning it last in 1994. Holland with three titles are second

I will not refute Pakistan’s glory in the field of Hockey but Indian Hockey suffered a dent after 1980’s especially after 1983,when Indian masses started looking forward to Cricket. It’s simple…](“Men's FIH Hockey World Cup - Wikipedia”)

Team records

S.A came back to International Cricket after more than two decades and they had only one guy in the form of Keplar Vessels ,who had experience.Still their come back was a great one.
Asif Bhai,I am not undermining the abilities of Pak Team here but a team that won a coveted title succumbed to defeats consecutively.Thats the point.Ofcourse Pakistan can bounce back :)](“http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/content/records/283877.html”)
How dare you!? Wait for it… what about the.. drum roll.. T20.. more drum roll.. practise match between Pakistan & India? That fills up the cupboard LOL sorry, if this wasn’t ever mentioned on GS or by Indians in general, I wouldn’t even have thought of it.. but since it has been, I could not resist
Okay, back to the point of this thread.. yayy, match is tomorrow and I can finally watch it as I’m free from studying!
