Pak V SL - Third Test Match

Not true. SA struggled in their earlier test matches right after their reentry to test cricket in 1992 incl. this game against Windies which they (SA) should have won

Again you are comparing ODIs with test cricket

And lets not base our judgement on performance in the last two games against SLA. Disappointing yes but one can’t say that they were one-sided games. Can’t really fault the bowlers who have not let Sri Lanka pile up huge totals so far in the series; the batters have let us down. I expect Pakistan to improve if they start playing regularly again. Just give them another year or so.

Even so Pakistan has the third best test record after Australia and England

alrett. bhai looks like loss in T20 WC is starting to hurt again. :p BTW, open another thread if you wanna compare Pakistan and India.

I hope Malik and Misbah are made to sit out and ponder over their recent performances. They haven't done anything out of the ordinary.

How quickly T20 starts comparing with Test matches… just ask Indians :omg:

Yes I am really ashamed Pakistan didn't win any Olympic gold prior to 1947!!!! Pakistan can lay as much claim to 1928, 1932, and 1936 golds as India. And that 1980 Olympics you mention, isn't it the same Olympics (Moscow) that was boycotted by most of the West, as well as Pakistan?

Arleitter..Do not force tullebaazi champions to perform better in tests where the skills are really needed…and moreover, they do not have ‘practise’ in last two years.

Srilanka has always been especially formidable at home. The only two teams to beat Srilanka in Srilanka since 2001 are Australia and Pakistan.

India lost 2-1 in 2008 and has actually lost its last two series in Srilanka. One in 2008, less than a year ago and one before that in 2001.

After mentioning that “recent” series (less than 12 months ago), which incidentally happened right after India 20/20 triumph, I do recall Srilankas first test victory which was against India right after the mini world cup which India won in 85, and the WC in 83. That was also Srilankas first series win.

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match

Im all for "resting" Malik and Misbah for the last test and giving Faisal and Razzak a go. Apart from that there are no real possible changes except maybe Manzoor, who I think shouldbe given another chance after a good opening partnership in the 2nd test.

Nobody seems to like the idea apart from me :)

Who knows better than you guys of having "too much" practice for some format of the game ;)

I wouldn't rest Malik or Misbah. Malik has the experience, and Misbah has the talent to come good any time. Razzaq should not be played in the Tests. Faisal only finds a place if someone else from the middle order is kicked out, which I don't think is a good idea.

I w’d rather discuss cricket here but since u brought it up…

You are right about the Indian hockey team’s earlier domination in Olympics but they have not won a major hockey title since the Moscow Olympics in 1980 in which Pakistan and many other major nations did not participate!!!

Pakistan once held all three major hockey titles - World Cup (1978 and 1982), Olympics (1984) and Champions Trophy - simultaneously in the early 80s.

And despite their recent indifferent form, Pakistan has won more hockey world cups (4) than any other nation winning it last in 1994. Holland with three titles are second

[

I will not refute Pakistan’s glory in the field of Hockey but Indian Hockey suffered a dent after 1980’s especially after 1983,when Indian masses started looking forward to Cricket. It’s simple…](“Men's FIH Hockey World Cup - Wikipedia”)

S.A came back to International Cricket after more than two decades and they had only one guy in the form of Keplar Vessels ,who had experience.Still their come back was a great one.

Asif Bhai,I am not undermining the abilities of Pak Team here but a team that won a coveted title succumbed to defeats consecutively.Thats the point.Ofcourse Pakistan can bounce back :)](“http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/content/records/283877.html”)

A1k Bhai Nope,India played a bad game and they had an early exit.Pakistan played like a champions Team and they derved the title. :k:

But the last two test matches, pakistan did not play like a team and lost it and thats a fact.

I believe Malik needs to be given a chance.I think he is slightly out of touch which he can mend himself soon.

I agree with Brahma… Misbah can be handy. He is a talented player.

How dare you!? Wait for it… what about the.. drum roll.. T20.. more drum roll.. practise match between Pakistan & India? That fills up the cupboard :omg: LOL sorry, if this wasn’t ever mentioned on GS or by Indians in general, I wouldn’t even have thought of it.. but since it has been, I could not resist :omg:

Okay, back to the point of this thread.. yayy, match is tomorrow and I can finally watch it as I’m free from studying!

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match

bad bad news, looks like Rauf will be dropped for Butt. :crying:

So we will be playing with 10 players, give SL extra 50 runs due to misfielding by Butt and probably two or three dropped catches by him.

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match

^^ If the news is true, then Younis Khan has decided to take a white wash

The odds are against Sri Lanka achieving a “White Wash” against Pakistan.

As such there are good chances for a “Draw” and it is quite possible that Pakistan will beat Sri Lanka.

Let us see which way the Ball Bounces.

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match

Pakistan will definitely fight hard to save some izzat. I think narkumar is right...Pakistan has the edge .

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match

Good Luck Pakistan :k:

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match

Pak is 1 down after 11 overs... 34/1.

Kaneria is playing in place of Rauf... hmmm... dunno about that one, but let's see.

Re: Pak V SL - Third Test Match
