Re: Pak v/s WI - Pick your team
I think Misbah has overstayed his welcome. He is setting a wrong precedent here.
He should have quit the scene after the team’s dismal performance in Australia. Failed in tests miserably both with the bat and as captain. That was his and the team’s litmus test. The other batsmen did reasonably well with the bat (although not in the 4th innings) but both bowling and Misbah’s leadership left a lot to be desired. Failed to motivate the team in the field and his field settings were ultra defensive. Pakistan should not have lost at Melbourne after scoring nearly 450 in the first innings.
I do not always agree with Ian Chappell but his harsh comments about Misbah’s place in the team, his leadership and about whether Pakistan should have toured Australia have merit. Unless Pak start winning ot at least drawing tests down under, Australia should refuse to host us.
No one wants to quit on a low but if Misbah thinks that a good performance in the Caribbean will somehow erase the bad memories down under then he’s badly mistaken imo.
Now guys like Kamran Akmal have every right to expect to get selected even after they turn 40 if they keep performing well domestically and/or in PSL!
Some people may not like my comments here but has Misbah grown a beard under pressure from Inzi (chief selector) or to please the latter? It seems to me that. For starters, it does not suit him. He looks like a robber now. Agar kuch change karna hai tau yeh cricketers sab sey pehley apna character badlein. A few of them recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons, spot-fixing etc. Unfortunately we are a nation that only believes in dikhawa.** I am against this excessive show of piety and religiosity in cricket or any sport or walk of life**. Religion is a sacred thing and it should remain a private and personal matter.
Maulana Tariq Jamil sey in sab ko door rakho!
I agree with you that religion should not be part of sports however there is no evidence that Misbah kept beard on the say so of Inzamam or that he has displayed any excessive religious show in his interviews or elsewhere.
