^ Those days I used to enjoy watching Pak team ( probable bit more than India) due to their fleet footed and skilled forwards. Now hockey is ugly to watch.

Centre Half (Akhtar Rasool) is the most vital position in hockey, *reerh ki haddi *of the team and Akhtar Rasool was a creative genius. A centre-half not only has to feed the forwards (is usu. the architect of most attacking moves) but he is also the first line of defence against any attacking move by the opponents
Akhtar Rasool won two back-to-back Hockey World Cups in 1978 and 1982; led us to Hockey World Cup glory in Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1982 - Pak beat Germany (then West Germany) 3-1 and was also part of the 1978 World Cup winning team led by Islahuddin (Pak beat Holland 3-2 in Buenos Aires, Argentina)
