The military dictator Gen. Musharraf says:
“No external threat can harm Pakistan, the enemy lies within,” he stated, maintaining that the element of sectarian and religious extremism can damage Pakistan both internally and externally".

The military dictator didn’t mention in his speech it was the army itself that gave power to sectarian and religious extremists. The Frankenstein has come home to roost.

The well being of Pakistan dictated the need to have mujahideens. No one foresaw the long term impact of it.
This is not to say i am pro-Zia. Externally, Mujahideens were needed. Internally, Hudood and other steps taken by Zia were disastorous.
