Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

I've never seen the traditional type of work until recently, and now that I have, I must say that i'm in love with the traditional kaam you can see in Bunto's and Faiza's work.

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

yups I know the feeling!!

You love these thigns and they make your eyes sparkle every time you would land your eyes on them! I guess mostly because we havn't seen as much of it outside of pakistan (the variety/the colors/the workmanship)! All my life I would sit and draw bridal lenghas and ghararas--loved them so much:) finally internet world came and I browsed and browsed. But of course even the internet does not do justice to the variation being produced in pakistan even at this moment...

these pixx were definitely a treat!

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

the kaam is very old world. When I close my eyes I envision princesses and wives of nawabs during the Britsih Raj having such intricate and delicate embroidery on their dresses......

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

hmmm and you know this style reminds me of some of the costumes in the Victoria and Albert Islamic gallery. Especially the designs from Uzbekistan and Turkey....

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

^ Interesting you should say that...Faiza Samee apparently uses Turkish as well as chinese embroidery concepts in her designs :)

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

so much research goes into every collection!!!! the mughal ancestors were from central asia and mongolia (present day china)...then we have persian, arabic, and indian influence on our embroideries and designs...even in our artistic style! pakistan has very creative artists and to me clothes are certainly a work of art:)

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

ziggy, not that you need to hear it one more time, but all dresses look gorgeous MaashaAllah. I esp loved the last (offwhite)one and the baby pink combo with offwhite. At first glance i thought the design was similiar for all of them but i know the kaam is different, very detailed and unique.

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

^ ahhhh...so you're a bit of a Nomi Ansari fan because both of those outfits are by him :)

Wow! Wow! Wow! Droooooooooool

They are all beauuuuuuuutiful. Gosh, my sister would die for outfits like these.

Quick question: Were these all designed by Bunto Kazmi? EDIT: Never mind. Just finished reading the entire thread and you’ve already answered the question.]

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

ur bhabi is one lucky girl....very nice dresses

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi’s trousseau!

oH! and i’m glad u went for quality over quantity…again really nice stuff..

sorry.. some of us are just a tad bit sarray-huway :halo:

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

^ lol...we thought it would be better to buy a few quality outfits than paying for like 20-30 average ones. Some guys though like the quantity as opposed to the quality...I guess for some it can be a matter of outdoing each other when it comes to weddings e.g. I gave 50 outfits and you gave 30, I gave 10 sets of jewellery and you gave 5 blah, blah, blah

thats so true and they are timeless outfits, even if u put big labels of who the designers were, most ppl would be like 'yeh kaun hai?'................lol, your bhabi islucky you guys have good taste! My MIL knew my taste was a bit different so she gave me money to get my own stuff made!

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

^I think it's always better to go for quality over quanityt (oh how nice it would be to get both!), but some ppl get really fugly and hideous stuff jsut so they can show off at how much they got.

that quantity thing always bothered me. i am sorry to say that but it is a big thing in my dadyaal (father side of family) my cousin and aunts bought 101 dresses for their baree jahaiz (what ever they are called), and i don't know a single one of them who wore all of them, most of them got tired of wearing their baree jahair outfit after few months because fashion changes so quickly. i am sure that they hardly wore 25 or 30 our of their 101 dresses. and rest are still in the suit cases in their original packing.
i would like to get some nice saree like 2,3 because saree is something that if you have a nice one you can always wear it, i think banarasi saree never goes out of fashion.

ziggy they're gorgeous mashallah and your bhabhi is so lucky to have a SIL like you :)
i'm glad you went for quality over quantity .......its true a lot of people end up buying like 60 outfits and they either get tight or out of style quickly and then the girls don't even wear them much in the end
I love the navy blue and the light blue especially

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

very pretty...

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

Ziggy. those are really nice. I love the pink one and the ferozi one. Are these made to order from the designers or did someone else make them?

I am looking for ideas for my sister's jahez and would love to include the two.

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

^ I'm glad you like them...they were made to order from the designers. In case you're curious, the pink one is by Faiza Samee and the ferozi is a Nomi Ansari outfit...

Re: Outfits from by Bhaabi's trousseau!

Those really lovely, Ziggy. I guess you can't beat the originals. Thanks for the reply.
