Re: Organ donation - revisited
hmmm...
Organ donation has been a very controversial issue... I have been against it for a long time (and I think I still am but having second thoughts lately...) .. Looking at the reasoning provided against it used to make sense to me... that is, we will be raised without the organs we donate... I am not sure if there is a valid hadeeth reference to it... If someone can post it, I will really appreciate it...
The logical rebuttal that comes to mind is, what about people who are born disabled or lose their organs in an accident? Why would they be raised like that? But again, for me faith overrides common logic when a COMMAND is present with solid proofs... Similar to how I believe in Angels, Books being Divine, Jins, Day of Judgement without any logical proof (well, day of judgement .. errmm.. I do have logical reasoning for that and it does quite make sense to me)....
I know there are so much good stuff about donating organs like how we help fellow humans to enjoy this world and benefit them doing so ... can be categorized as a good deed, in fact.... may be more so like a fulfilment of Huqooq-ul-Ibaad...
But, when in doubt, I leave the doubtful stuff until I find the rightful stuff... So, I currently have no opinion about organ donation...
However, I STRONGLY believe that An Ijmaa' over an Ijtihaad for this matter is highly a need of the time... but again, our scholars have not enough time to even prove others KAAFIR, let alone solving important matters of the Ummah! What a ParadoX!
