Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

thats nothing to do with ANP.MQM has blamed the latest killings of 5 workers on lyari gangs and accused zulfikar mirza of patrionizing them.

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

well I born in Lahore and raised in Karachi till our family moved out of Pakistan..but sill have relations and goes there to meet them sometime ,and what i see and observe a lot of majorty of Karachiet like MQM and what I feel its not becoz of their gunda gardi or terror MQM just give them an identity as well as PPP famous in rural Sindh and PMNL in Punjab and ANP in Peshwar side.. so what is the big deal? and if u guys think that all previous elections results were in favor of MQM becoz of its terror, you guys so wrong on your observations.. i mentioned it in my very old post once that WHY we need to put our hands on bees? you know that if u put your hands on sawrn the bee`s house what u got the result? u know that and all PMNL,ANP,JI,PPI knows that fact... but still they want put their hand on it and the result is always same a blood shed..

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

Haqiqi has no influence in orangi, they only had influence in landhi ,korangi, shah faisal colony to name a few. Both Aamir and Afaq separated in 2006 or 2007 and now lead their own factions of haqiqi. Both of them are sentenced to life imprisonment and decided to appeal against the verdict on the grounds that the decision has been made under political pressure from a party sitting in sindh coalition government.

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

haqiqi is not even contesting that seat.its only mqm and anp which have fielded their candidates for PS 94.3 independents candidates have withdrawn from the race

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

And ANP too is threatening to step down as a protest.

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

Thats what they will most likely do for one reason or another - face saving....

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

There is only one way to cut down the influence of MQM in Karachi. Give Karachi a special status - hold elections on party basis and then give seats to parties on the number of vote percentage - MQM will loose many seats then.

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

“We do not want to shed the blood of innocent people on the day of elections and if the army is not deployed, we would prefer to boycott the elections instead of going for an all-out fight,” he said, fearing that there will be targeted killings during the elections.

The “tappa mafia” will be defeated this time and no one will have the courage to rig the elections with the army present, he added.

Karachi: ANP boycotts PS-94 by-polls

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

hahahaha good timing ANP, a nice escape

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

I know ANP could never have won that seat anyway, not at least this time around. But I think the behari qomi movement is what MQM is afraid of as far as this particular seat is concerned, and i think their representative is contesting as an "aazaad umeedwar" in this constituency.

ANP was calling for army just to gain some good will and an easy way out of this by election, because they new they cannot win, but they also knew if army is given the charge for the day to maintain security and no rigging is done, MQM is most likely going to lose this seat to the azad umeedwar of BQM

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

Popularity of the BQM is quite suspicous. Biharies of both North Karachi and Orangi Town have been the strongest supporters of MQM during last 25 years. These were the NA seats where they set record of number of votes in Pakistan.

Orangi Town is surrounded by hills from all around - its like a circular geographical area. There are only three exits to the city from Orangi Town - Bacha Khan Chowk, Metroville and the so called Kati Pahari. Whenever there is ANP/MQM clash in the city - all three exits are closed for days and people can not cummute to work to the city and the industrial araes. Most of these people are daily wage earners. This make their lives very misberable. This could be the only reason for MQM's unpopularity in the area otherwise Bihaires would the last group to quit MQM.

Re: Orangi Town Election: ANP calls Army whereas MQM oppose it

whatever the reason may be, but recent rallies and demonstrations in that area by the new ethnic group (that is BQM) was not something to be ignored at all. plus, if mqm had no fear of losing the seat, why would they not let army take the charge of security and conducting the election? specially when altaf bhai so profoundly been calling "mohib-e-watan gernails" about taking change of the whole country, why not only one constituency only for one day only to conduct by election?
