Iran was much better under Shah. They were suppressed but at least religious police wasn’t out enforcing vice and virtue laws. People at least had some person freedoms, unlike under mullah regime where they have no freedoms of any kind.

Also, it wasn’t globally isolated and economically it was booming.

Iran was at its worst position under shah that’s why people came out against him
