Its usually because of the place that you live! For example, nothing exciting happens in pittsburgh for eid, so i would rather go to class or study! However, if i was in pakiland or something, I know it would be lots of fun!!!!

You're right, jobs, careers and grad schools do take a toll on family life. I hope I can afford to spend my Eid with family next year inshAllah. This year, it was just exams- one after another- and some consolatory phone calls from Abbu jee and Ammee jee!
Sure, careers, businesses, and grad schools may have pulled us apart geographically
but we all share the desire for the simplest things: to meet, eat, and talk.

That was a joke, we understand you are not

Any-how:
We also had a good Eid alhumdulilah, me my father, brother, uncle and cousins went to read Eid namaz together. We came back had breakfast at my uncles house.
Then all went to our house greeted the ladies and one another with Eid Mubarak, sat and talked till another loved family member arrived from far away.
Had the Eid Dinner, then accepted and made phone calls to distant family members for wishing Eid.
Late afternoon we went to Cinema to see film.
Feasted at a Pakistani restaurant after the film.
Came Home, Thanked Allah for the wonderful day and blessings, went to sleep.
A good family day.
