Re: Olive Oil
We use olive oil all the time when cooking. Anything you would normally use ghee or veggie oil for, you can just use olive oil instead. Same darn taste and your pants fit better.

Re: Olive Oil
In Spain we always cook with olive oil :)
Re: Olive Oil
Okay do only desis use ghee or arabs use it toO?
I hate ghee, it smells sooo icky.. i’d never use it in salans or any dishes, but for a paratha or halva/zarda, ghee is usually teh best .. ![]()
At home ammi used pomace olive oil, which ive recently learned is a lower quality of olive oil but still olive oil nonetheless.. xtra virgin olive oil tastes different, it deff takes getting used to though..
For frying, olive oil isnt good? ![]()
Re: Olive Oil
My Dear Guppies,
I have a master plan to use olive OIL to trap george bush. but shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh keep it a secret for now.
Re: Olive Oil
i use it for cooking and as a hair conditioner...
Re: Olive Oil
^ Boring.
Re: Olive Oil
I find the extra virgin stuff that is supposed to be so special does not mesh well with spices. The light kind is fine, though.
Re: Olive Oil
u reap advantages of olive oil best in dressing salads and eating in its natural state as opposed to heating up in desi dishes at high temperatures.
i tried using it in hair but its too heavy for me...makes my scalp break out.....
its an excellent lip and hand moisturizer though...
Re: Olive Oil
I have used it for frying foods (pakorey, samosas, fries - if I don't bake them) ... and I've used it in my hair too!
Re: Olive Oil
use it in cooking but it needs to be kept in the fridge, according to Dr. Mehmet Oz.
He says such oils change their composition if they have been left outside for too long.
Re: Olive Oil
I dunno bout cooking but I use Olive Oil on my skin as a moisturizer.
Or I add it to my scrub as a lubricant.
Re: Olive Oil
Don't ever accidentally use extra-virgin olive oil in your pancakes!
Not that I have.
(Ahem. )
