Old is Gold

Re: Old is Gold

Safirullah Siddiqui, Umer Sharif, Moin Akhtar and Behroze Sabzwari.

It can’t get better than having Pakistan’s finest ‘funny’ men all in one frame.

The guru of many aspiring comedians and actors, Safirullah Siddiqui (Lehri) is seated, as his disciple, Umer Sharif, sits on the floor right next to him. On the left, a slender Moin Akhtar smiles at the camera in his scary get-up.

And last but not the least, with one arm around Akhtar and the other, around Lehri’s, is the still-relevant and versatile actor Behroze Sabzwari. Akhtar and Lehri left us too soon, but their jokes and puns are here to stay.

Pakistani music stalwarts Sohail Rana (L) and Ahmed Rushdi (R) weaved their magic for many Pakistani films. The picture, taken in the mid-1970s, features the maestros, who are reminiscent of the golden age of Pakistani film music.
