Re: OK silly question but...
There are cells in the battery pack. If you overcharge them they burn. This renders them dead. That is why overcharging your phone will in the long run create handset problems.

Re: OK silly question but...
As discussed issue of overcharge does not arise for liion battrris with good Hms and chg control.

Bms
Re: OK silly question but...
The Li ions in my camera are all swollen up after 5 years of use. But they can still hold a charge and I have two so I won't be buying new ones anytime soon.
Re: OK silly question but...
If they are pouch cells over time reaction of electrode with anode would result in gas evoln C2h4 and other hydrocarbons.
Re: OK silly question but...
I meant to say gas evolved regardless of pouch or cylindrical. But pouch mexpands
Re: OK silly question but...
I'm guessing pouch. They're about 5 mm thick
Re: OK silly question but...
Yes - rectangular cross section and 5 mm sounds right. Looks kind of pale white in color
Re: OK silly question but...
So, here is a summary for our sweet senior socialite's baby girl:
1) place device in bucket
2) position bucket directly under a tap.
3) open tap - adjust flow rate such that bucket filled in 1 hour.
4) monitor water level closely
5) turn off tap
6) dry device in air for 30 min. Finish drying by wiping with dry cloth.
7) device is now ready for use.
8) ask mommy to get you new device.
Repeat steps 1-8.
