hehe....hmmmm that's a tricky question. No, I don't think so. I'd prefer him to be productive even it means he has to be away for longer periods.
PS: I don't know if I really answered your question or not.
But he must waste time in other ways? Being a gamer, and married to a gamer and having brother's who are gamers, it really doesn't stop you being productive unless you let it. Like anything else in life.

It works for you because you and your husband have similar views regarding gaming. Because I have no interest in gaming it'd be worse for me to be married to a gamer.
As Decent mentioned his concern regarding his son, I think I'd be really irritated if my kids' father was addicted to games. I know we can argue about being on gupshup and playing games is the same but IMO games are more anti-social than discussion forums.
Never gonna happen but I wish I could introduce you to the world of gaming you are probably not aware of. Miles away from the killing stuff or sports games you see advertised all the time. It might not change your mind but it will at least show you what can capture the imagination. It's no different from books or movies. Just like all you mostly just see (imo) crappy pure entertainment hollywood movies advertised all around you all the time, you get the same with gaming.
^for entertainment purposes it's okay to play.....I have played Myst and I really liked it but that was when I didn't have any kids. I actually really enjoyed it.
You’re the father, it’s your job to keep your son away from bad habits. I’m a gamer myself. Friends and family leave their kids in my care every now and then. Though I myself might play for a couple of hours in a row, when it comes to the kids, I limit their playtime.
