her graciousness! she always makes people feel really welcome and loved. i received many compliments on her awesomeness from various friends of mine at our wedding who said she took the time out to speak to everyone and inquire about their families even though she was the hostess, and in the case of many of our friends, was meeting them for the first time! she’s such an inspiration in that and i always do my best to remember that and channel her when we have people over at ours.

i completely agree with you re: martha stewart ways especially when it comes to cooking. who has the time to dry and grind up their own spices? my mom does! she’s always been a working woman but when i was growing up as a kid in a 3-bedroom apartment housing 8 people, i remember the place was always spotless, dinner was always on the table, and she’d even brush her hair, put on makeup and change her clothes before dad came home from work! i told hubby i’d do it for $5 a day if he was tired of seeing my lounging in my pj’s when he gets home from work

seriously though, its exhausting just thinking about how she managed all of that, not to mention the umpteen dawats every weekend.
conclusion: she can be super woman all she wants, i’m happy to be sometimes-above-average lady

i’ll add one more: what do you wish you had inherited from your mom?
her grace! she’s known in our family for mA being really graceful and elegant, and sometimes i just feel like a freakin’ bull in a freakin’ china shop next to her! honestly. she sort of floats through life (not in a flakey way) even when times are hard. i love my mommy and now i really, really miss her!
wahhh! thanks a lot, niksik!
