Obligation of Hijab

What does the Quran say about Hijab? I am not interested in what’s written in Bukhari Ahadith. So far I only know three verses in Quran that address Hijab and they are not very clear (7:26, 24:31, 33:59).

No where does it specifically ask women to cover their head (hair) so why do most Islamic “scholars” continue to refer to these verses to convince other muslims that it is an obligation. It seems like a cultural obligation more than anything, no?

P.S. It is about modesty and protection, so wear a Jilbab or loose fitting clothes. Why do scholars insist women need to cover their “hair” in order to have complete Hijab? It doesn’t make sense. Most muslim girls I know only remember to cover their hair and the rest is covered with the latest fashion trends.

can i ask you why for the bold part ???
