It could very well have been a 'bait n hook' comment on his part. Because so far he has been the strongest supporter of troop withdrawal, so it's very unlikely he'll be the one pushing them back out there again or expanding their tours of duty. He might just come to say there's no need to invade if we can just work with the Pakistani Govt. to take care of things in a much less invasive manner. Who knows....
