Escapism, it occurs in your mind when you have a life full of abnormalities/negativeness or when you have a life which is abnormally normal. You find escape in imagination and fantasizing and I, in spending time on internet and spending money on brands.
Have you watched Equilibrium? In that movie, people of Libria must take a drug called Prozium to suppress their emotions and imagination to maintain the peace and normality in the city. I feel most people around me are on Prozium and sometimes when I miss the dose I wake up for few moments.
Reason why children don’t feel cold or hot because their imagination is much more stronger than us adults, the imaginary world is more real for them. When I was little I remember walking outside without any warm clothes on, during winter nights, just to see the night sky, I used to jump high to touch the sky and catch the stars…never felt scared or cold. Things like that start to come back when you start living your life through your children or when you stop taking Prozium. :-/
