Re: Novel on prophet's wife pulled for fear of backlash
slickstar; are you okay? you seem a tad drunk with all that over excited drivel.
Nevertheless, first things first...the book was NOT banned, the contract has merely been released and and that is the publishers own perogative. It was done before many had even heard of it.
Secondly, technically speaking, theres nothing really to defend here, because the marraige to a young gril is not really an issue in the book, its actually been romanticised. So kindly cut out the pipsqueaking over that, it might damage your vocal cords.
What i personally have issue over (from reading the prologue) is the way it seems quite inaccurate. Given its a novel, but not something many muslims will be able to relate to (historically). The first and only non muslims critic stated this. The muslim scholars reinforced it.
IMO the author could have put slighlty more effort in getting her facts correct in her attempt for cheap controversy. Otherwise it just seems a manipulaion of history, the femi-naZi way. But who knows, perhaps she's very envious of the rushdie lifestyle and wanted a piece of the pie. If so, then good luck to her...cause i dare say she'll need it.
