Let's keep in mind it was the 7th century. Is it fair to judge actions of that time period with our norms of today?
i totally agree. but then by the same notion there should be no apostasy laws, stoning to death etc etc. arnt they 7th century as well.
but it is contradictory to what Islam proclaims, after all, Islam is the one true political voice of god. and it should not be changed. therefore whatever happened in the 7th century, sexually, politically, economically should be implemented in the 21st century. its never too late.
