well the reason LKK, esteemed mod of religious forum who has great insight into religion, posted that quote was to justify an earlier post that muslims shouldnt eat with non-muslims. here, let me quote it again for you, and you can explain how you see it as encouraging charity and what not..
Associate only with a believer, and let only a God-fearing man eat your meals.

I am speechless to see such a comment posted on this site that does nothing but simply mock a book that contains holy words and narrations related to the prophet S.A.W.
More astonishing to see that it was liked by two members of the site; however, liking of it by a moderator of the site was just icing on the cake :)

Peace queer!
The first line indicates that one should make his/her companions to only those whom having complete faith.The second line indicates feeding meals only to God-fearing man should eat from our foods. Arabic word ‘La-tusahib’ implies the negation of companionship, which is friendly and constant relationship.
Association is a more general term and can confuse to believe that any type of association with a non-mulsim (disbeliever) is prohibited. It is not like that.
In second line about the meals are to fed outsiders are two (1) feeding to the poors, orphans, widows or any needy person (2) feeding to the guests is out of love and brotherhood and God-fearing, for such peoples who are fed out of a social desire for which will help define one’s success in both worlds.
(1) Poors, orphans, widows or needy person could be anyone from any religion/belief.
(2) To strenght family or social ties. Food should be halaal not haram etc.
Many scholars has given Fatawa that it is permissible to eat with a non-mulsim and many other said there is a hadith narrated that our Prophet 
accepted invitation of a non-muslim (jews). However, i can’t find the authentic source.

well, in islam if both are musliam hugging is still not allowed with different sex, and offcourse allowed with same sex... mal to male, and female to female,,, i dont have clear idea about non muslims,,
why can't there be a platonic relationship between a man and a woman though? does a man and woman have to be in lust or love always? regardless of religion?
ok i understand that the rule is only for same sex hugging and opposite sex hugging and public displays of affection are not promoted but why isn't the word "platonic" understood, b/c religious boundaries are recognized and i understand my limits.....

queer, what hate message? It's all about companionship and guidance. There is no restriction on eating out with non-muslims. Perhpas you are missing the point in your own hate towards the religion of Islam and the prophet.

No disrespect lethal, but are you ever going to post a Quranic reference? I know that there are simple guidlines contained with the Quran itself that tell you how to interact with non-believers, non of them include not eating or associating with them. I will try to find them and post them myself, but you are the moderator, I think you should be posting Quranic references before looking to the hadees. :)
