Sunni point of view is that Hadrat Bilal participated in jihad in syria after wisaal of our beloved prophet:saw2: . Need to check referance for the period before that.

I read in a hadith (don’t remember the reference) that a Sahabi wants to participate in a Jihad but permission wasn’t given because he had to take either his wife or mother to Hajj. He was ordered to perfom Hajj.

Will look for reference/name.

I think that is related to a particular jihad only, otherwise almost all sahbaha:razi: took part in jihad.even in that case niyyat was there.

My point here is to show that it is the duty of muslims to consider this ibadat based on its merit and not to leave it just bacause some one is not doing it right way.

Lets try to populate how many sahbah:razi: did not participated in jihad without any uzur.
