to challenge Musharraf's candidature at SC. Alternative was not to participate and let Mush get himself re-elected. Just because he is participating does not mean he endorses the elections or will be campaigning for votes. Only objective is to derail this farce.

Lawyers have been acting like jackasses for a long time now. You still keep supporting them. And you don't want anyone to rule Pakistan? That, unfortunately is not an option. I don't like Mush because he is a dictator, but I also know he is the only option that will not completely destroy Pakistan.

PRESS RELEASE

CH. AMIR HUSSAIN, SPEAKER NATIONAL ASSEMBLY WITHDRAWS HIS CANDIDATURE FOR ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT.

Islamabad, the 1st October, 2007.- Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan has said that today was the date of withdrawal of candidature by the candidates, for Election to the office of the President, whose nominations were accepted by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan/Returning Officer on 29th September, 2007. The nominations were to be withdrawn up to 12:00 Noon.

The Federal Secretary Election Commission further said that Ch. Amir Hussain, Speaker National Assembly, who was one of the six (6) candidates, has withdrawn his candidature by personally submitting a Notice of Withdrawal to the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner/Returning Officer at 11:55 AM today. Accordingly, the List of following Validly Nominated Candidates for Election to the office of the President has been published by the Chief Election Commissioner/Returning Officer in the official Gazette;

1) General Pervez Musharaf
2) Mrs.Faryal Talpur
3) Mr.Mohammedmian Soomro
4) Makhdoom Mohammad Amin Faheem
5) Mr. Wajihuddin Ahmed
