No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

^ thats a good idea!

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

Wow....thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts/tips regarding this. :) My venue is totally american so no desi vendor contacts there.

I'm grateful for the tips on looking a film student or someone who does this as a hobby. I didn't even think of that! I will definitely stay away from "big" professionals who charge a lot for special effects. I'll be happy with a simple video that just captures everything. I don't need fancy music or special effects. Plus after thinking about this....if there's not a video of the day...my mom will hound me about it for the rest of my life!

I will start my search for local reasonable vendors....I'm in Texas....if anyone knows any contacts, please feel free to PM me. :)

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

**You should contact professional vendors as well just to get an idea of their work and charges and try to look for similar qualities in the videographer you choose. **

Would recommend that you invest in a good videographer/photographer. I agree with most of the posters that it is a once in a lifetime opty and of course your coming generations will benefit.

Yes lol

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

***Finalized a photographer yet? He or she may have an idea of a budget videographer. don’t forget to ask them. Since your venue is totally american an american videographer will work well since they have quite a ‘love affair’ with shooting Indian/Pakistani weddings.

I’ll post a few names who aren’t charging thousands but you should let them know whether you want their services for Valima or any other function that you may be having.

Shehnaiheels:

OMG...thank you soooooo much for all the info! We're in the process of negotiating with the venue and I'm hoping to have the contracts signed by this weekend. Once that's done...my 2 major next "headaches" are booking a decorator and also finding someone to do invitations. I haven't booked anyone for photos yet but have been doing research online. I will defininately look through your links and may even end up PM'ing you within the next week.

Thanks again! :)

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

I've watched my wedding video more than I've looked at my wedding photos, but than again I'm the kind of person who loves watching home movies.
I don't have any children, but my 3-year-old niece, who was born a few months after the wedding, is obsessed with watching my wedding video, she's ALWAYS asking us to put it on!

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

have been married 12 years and we still watch the video sometimes, esp. our kids. I would say go for it, evenif you get an inexpensive video proff.

Re: No Video of Shaadi? Is this a bad idea?

i think having ur shadi videographed is a must.i dont realy care about the professional videography,i would actually prefer to have somebody from the family (cousin or sibling) to shoot the whole event.coz they understand u better and u ll b more comfortble discussing the minutest detail with them.and for the added benefit that they know the guests personally and hence will know which guest is more likely to b the funniest n they ll keep their eyes open for them :)
