Of course she has every right to be pissed.
I do believe that you CAN wear your wedding dress to another wedding but there’s a proper way and a wrong way to do it. It’s one thing if you wear what you would normally wear and you get there and find out that the bride is very…ummm shall we say..understated…that’s not your fault. But if you KNOW for a fact that the bride is not into bling bling, and you go there dressed to the nines expecting to stand out and get attention then that IS wrong and quite mean of them.
I wore my wedding dress to my devar’s wedding because I knew it was accepted in their family for them to do that…my dress was at least ten times heavier than hers (and aside from my regrets at wearing it) she did look absolutely beautiful on her wedding. My jethani also wore her wedding outfit and jewelery (wth the jhumar too) on my wedding, and it looked nice.
DON’T wear the duputta on the head! Get a lighter duputta if possible ro pin it to the shoulder. If you wear hijab then for God’s sake, WEAR A PROPER SCARF! A bridal duputta is NOT a hijab.
DON’T wear the wedding dress on the wedding day (and valima dress on the valima day and so on).
DON’T wear the dress if you’re not the sister/sister-in-law/direct relative of the person getting married!
