But when did this restart? I know the announcement was recent…
When I went to my mamoon’s wedding early last year, food was allowed.
This is so frustrating ![]()
I’ll have to take a change of clothes. Maybe model my jahez ![]()

ALot of places find ways to get around this... When we had my sisters wedding at the PC in KHI, they basically had us book Hall A and B, A was for the Shadi and B was for the dinner.... they just openned the partition at dinner time and closed it afterwards. I had a full menu meal at my shadi at the Marriot in ISB because it was a day event but our Walima in Lahore was a 1 Dish even at the PC because of some rule in Punjab..... so for all of you getting married soon, dont worry things will work out with the food!!! Good luck
Dont sweat it people. From what I seen last time I went to Pak, government regulations were'nt to high on peoples list of worries.
A Slap on the face of Hindu culture
The Supreme Court of Pakistan in its verdict said:
**
".......functions related to marriage such as mayun/rasm-i-henna, baraat and the custom of giving large dowries were of Hindu origin and had nothing to do with the Islamic concept of marriage," **
"Social evils emanating from such exploitative customs have not only added to the misery of the poor but have also put at stake their very existence,"
"Such evils of extravagance and ostentatious displays of wealth are unacceptable as they are against all norms and values known to a civil society and therefore must stop,"
**
"It is the duty of the state to encourage the celebration of marriage ceremonies in simple and informal ways like performance of Nikah in a local mosque to eliminate inconvenience and harm to society," **
Well done Supreme Court! I hope it continues to do the right job!
Most importanty it was slap also on the face of the advocators of "a similar culture between India and Pakistan". It is a great news to to hear an endorsement from the highest court in Pakistan that current customs unfortunately prevalent are evil Hindu customs!
Those "enlightened moderates" need to be kicked out of Pakistan who try to play with Pakistan's ideology. They should go to their beloved homeland India and live there instead of damaging Pakistan's roots. Pakistan was created for Islam, is for Islam and will be for Islam. First of all it is a lie that some try to spread that it was not meant to be an Islamic state. Secondly, lets live in today and an Islamic Sytem is our destiny. Lets see who prevails.
Pakistan ka matlab kya ...La Ilaha Illa Allah!
*** Edit: Please do not tamper with the Flag of Pakistan **
Now thats what im talking about. Glad to see the Supreme Court giving a good sound verdict!

Unfortunately yes, sometimes you need a court verdict to remove the stupidity out of someone :)
I dont agree with this at all...the mehndis, baraat and dowry and such are not hindu traditions...I think it is more of a cultural traditions, rather than religious traditions...regardless of whether one is muslim, hindu, or sikh...the fact that pakistan and india were one country before, obviously our traditions are pretty much the same...
for some reason some pple cant tell the difference between religion and culture....mehndis, baraat, dowry are all part of pakistan's culture (for weddings) as well as india's.. there is nothign wrong with that.
Screw Hindu culture.

well whatever.....
eh? Mehndi/ dowry part of hindu religion? I can understand common citizens misunderstanding but I am surprised to a government institution proclaiming it to be part of Hindu religion.
Thats a very callous statement IMHO.
Cant you just scrap these practices saying it is unhealthy practice or otherwise?
eating out of dumpsters?? It’s Pakistan.. not India.. ![]()
it is a shame granary like punjab state should ban food in wedding inthe name of religen.
did i say pakistan ? i never went to wedding in pakistan
