We wouldn’t be having these dharnas if people had spent more time demanding accountability from their masters, instead of nit picking and fatwafying people’s private lives. Ironically they all pretend to act like custodians of the system, but it’s actually not the ills of the system that bothers them, it’s the statement that expose that system that gives them severe heartache.
It’s the same old pathetic slave mentality, feel good cynicism that reeks of defeatism, desensitisation and moral bankruptcy those people promote with their ‘let these families do corruption because they can, that’s what they’ve have been doing and that’s all what they’ll do so no point condemning’ attitude. Such attitude is nothing but a relic of an age marked with ignorance, lethargy, darkness and despair. But the times are changing now, there is just so much awareness over these things amongst the young people of Pakistan that it’s impossible to contain their growing anger and aspirations. Pakistanis youth is rising and truth to be told, ultimately, it’s always the youth the changes the fate of any nation.
But I must say, what these arm chair cynics and opportunistic naysayers don’t realise is that history is a witness that rights and freedom is never handed over in a platter. These rights and liberties are won and fought for through popular and often painful struggles. Trade Union movement, Women’s Rights, Civil Rights, Human Rights were tirelessly fought for. Envelopes were pushed, rules were broken, boundaries were re-defined to give new generation a new and brighter future. Pakistan too shall have that future. These naysayers cannot stop the youth for asking for their rights. They just cannot.
