It's not just about divorce CB. There are many things like inheritance, insurance, state pension etc associated with it. In case of untimely demise of one partner and absence of a will the spouse faces all sort of troubles, which can be avoided if the marriage is registered.

A lot of the big mosques in the UK like Regents Park will actually refuse to do an Islamic marriage without a civil certificate which shows how important it is to register imo.
