Newsweek switch on Quran story

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

Faisal, you are wrong on a number of those counts, but we will argue those another day.

Here is an article on the beliefs of the Catholic Church:

Vatican unease over outreach surfaced in 2003 when La Civilta Cattolica, a Jesuit magazine whose articles have to be approved by the Vatican secretary of state, published a downbeat assessment of Christian-Muslim relations. It said the Vatican’s professions of tolerance for Muslims had not been displayed equally by Muslims for Christians.

La Civilta Cattolica noted that Saudi Arabia refused to permit churches to be built on its territory but financed construction of mosques and schools in Europe, including Rome, “the very heart of Christianity.”

The Islamocentric view of the world is that the desecration of a single Quran is an important event. However the persecution of minority religions under Muslim rule is far more heinous, but invisible to Muslims. The cult of victimology of Muslims ignores the plight of other religions in Muslim lands.

If we ACTUALLY treated Muslims as badly as Muslims treat minority religions, THEN you could protest!

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

I object…circumcision is our way of plstic surgery to make ‘it’ look beautiful

That is one reason, ur porns look despicable

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

^^

Care to elaborate on those invisible events?

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

I don’t think any disrespect is worth the lives killed protesting it. It was a common thing for the unbelievers of Makkah to disrespect a lot more than just the Quran but the Holy Prophet (saw) never took it as seriously as Mullahs and their supporters do these days. And on top of that they hide behind the ‘we have gairat (respect) and others don’t’ .. same logic used for honor killing too.

Journalism is all about $$, what can get the most paper sold. In US and in Pakistan, the stories I have seen with my own eyes, verses when I read about them in newspapers are totally different. Once a girl in our school had a heat stroke, she fell unconscious. Some of the guys went to the local Jang group’s office and told them the story that the principle was beating her up when she fell unconscious and no body gave her any medical attention. The next day news paper had that story in it. The evening news picked it up the next day and published it the next afternoon with some more mirch masaly. In fact, the girl was unconscious for maybe a minute and was given water. Someone from the staff had called the ambulance, which came in an hour later but by that time she didn’t want to go to the hospital.

That being said, US military is decades behind fighting the psychological & propaganda war as far as winning the hearts of Muslims is concerned.

Anyway, one of the posters I saw online was great. It asked for Bush to apologize for the false report by Newsweek. I want to take it further … Lets ask him to resign and give the reigns of government to the green party. :smokin:

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

lol, sorry, was the placing of that post by Lajawab, I can't see straight I am laughing so hard :D

On a serious note, very nicely written ahmadjee

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

The article highlights the “seemingly rather curious fact” that wherever Islam has imposed itself by conquest — in what are now Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Turkey, and in the regions of historic Mesopotamia and Palestine — “Christianity, which had been extraordinarily vigorous and rooted for centuries, practically disappeared.”

This same “obedience” has led to recent anti-Christian violence in Algeria, Pakistan, Nigeria, Java, East Timor, the Moluccas and, most dramatically, Sudan. Little wonder, as the article also reports, that between roughly one-quarter and one-third of the estimated Christian population of the Middle East has emigrated over the past decade to the free world.

Despite your perceptions, Christians are virtually driven from every Muslim land…

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

OG --- Damn it. After all the education about Islam that gs has provided you with, you still get your facts messed up. I am so disappointed in you. :(

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

Show me where my facts are wrong. I haven't called you terrorist ONCE today:)

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

I forgot. You’ve been a good boy. I dont care to browse all these various links OG I am down with a migraine so you will have to excuse me. But yes you get a sticker for not calling me a terrorist. Now lets pick at your last opinion.

False:

Despite your perceptions, Christians are virtually driven from every Muslim land…

I mean heck remember the British in India. They were supposed to get kicked out. As for the rest maybe God decided that Islam would be more suitable for the people. I say this in jest btw. And Christian are hardly the ones being wronged in this day and age. They dont even have a history of any form of major wrong being done to them. Now now dont feel sorry for Christians. We muslims are taught to respect them and let them do their own thing. I cant speak for the rest, only for myself. :o

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

So did this really happen? Why would anybody do something as absurd as flushing a book down a toilet? :konfused: Is it just me, or this whole scenario is insubstantial?

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

Faisal, I want to open a hanuman mandir in mecca or even in riyadh, Saudi arabia. Will you join in me in the udhghatan? Respect for other religions…what crock of siht..How about a buddhist monastary where confused Saudis (i.e. 99% of population), can become better human beings. One mullah at a time. let’s set an example. :flower1:

US as a policy doesn;t desecrate religious scripture. regardless of whether it has allah, vishnu, jesus or yahweh in it…even if someone might have done it..which doesn;t seem true now afterall, we went out of our way to clarify our position. What did the muslim leaders do? They held rallies and stirred up emotions of halfwits because halfwits are more worried about blasphemy than education for their girls.

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

Pindi Yaar, I predict the same response coming your way from various directions – that being – But Saudi Arabia doesn’t call itself the bacon of Democracy and Hanuman Rights. You wait.

These bunch of crackpots need an excuse to exhibit their stupidity for the whole world to see, as if that is needed. Some people have their necks buried deep in sand. Ain’t coming out any time soon.

:jhanda:

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

It's just DAMAGE CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

that is an ullu ka patha response...next person who says that is an ullu ka patha..even before they say that. A two year old will have a better sense of egality, bon homie, and frankly better humanity than retards who by saying Saudi doesn't preach religious freedom, is exempt from practicing it. Can we kill them..instead of the people who died because of this illfounded kuran flap?

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

Hanuman rights, my love.

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

"The Holy Book was used to measure the religious feelings of prisoners. If someone reacted sharply and indignantly to desecration, he was adjudged to be dangerous. When desecration became repeated and persistent, the prisoners went on hunger strike for seven days to give vent to their indignation. The prison officials were alarmed at this reaction and they told the outside world that the strike was being observed against tough dealing of the prisoners by jail staff.

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

Arabia has never claimed secularism...It is an Islamic state...

However, it still employs more Europeans than even America itself...

As for opening Mandirs in SA, there are quite a few...Just not in the Hijaz...

Re: Newsweek switch on Quran story

LJ, SA is a Monarchy, not an Islamic state, pls. Simply because they control Mecca and Medina doesnt make them an Islamic state, and u know what I mean.

Yes they do employ Europeans and Americans, yet they do not allow religious freedom in areas other than Hijaz also. Recent arrest of 40 christians in Riyadh while performing service behind closed doors in their own private homes is religious intolerance at its best. Compare that to the US, where post 9/11 American police were protecting Muslim centres. Even today, American Muslims enjoy their religious festivels in the open, unlike Pak where religious intolerance has forced numerous christian families to migrate.

Mandir’s in SA? Me think u taking a chance, pls provide more info will appreciate your help…
