Newborn's first haircut

Re: Newborn's first haircut

Roman you may be right to the point that people are following it mindlessly just because Prophet Mohammad did it (muslims call it sunnah). Would you however please elaborate on why you think it is an incorrect act / harmful for the baby.

Re: Newborn's first haircut

cheegum, I'm always weary of touching new born's head too much... as you know, they have undeveloped bone on top of the head and it takes years to strenghthen.. I always fear something might poke that area or too much touching handling of the head would somehow hurt the skull brain (I know sounds overboard but it can happen) so that's why I think 7 days is a bit too early for the new born.

^This is why I want our imam to do the first shave for our baby. He has lots of experience and knows what he's doing. I saw pics of my SILs baby getting her first shave from a very old auntie friend of our family's and it scared me-----I don't want anyone with bad eyesight, unsteady hands, lack of experience, etc., bringing a razor near my darling's head.
