I went from UK, in July, for the sole purpose of shopping...went all around the city-manhattan etc. but this was the best place we found! good designer stuff- very reasonable prices!
It's like a small shopping village, with designer outlets and very pleasant 2 spend a day out there-none of the pollution and million yellow cabs of manhattan!

OMG, that’s like a road trip all on its own. If you really are willing to travel there’s this outlet in NJ, right across the river, can’t remember the name, where there’s an Ikea too.

Observation Deck on the 70th floor of 30 Rockefeller Center, includes a panoramic view of Central Park and the northern half of Manhattan.
American Museum of Natural History.
Central Park.
...there's no shortage of places to go and see.
when i went a few months ago, i personally enjoyed going to the rockefeller center.

i think the thread poster meant shopping as in clothes shopping, and not souvenir shopping

cummon dude- shes hardly gonna find a perfume shop on the observation deck of the ESB??? …and wait a minute there’s a really famous shoe shop at the Statue of liberty…isnt there??? rest my case

We ate, went to a flea market, saw Radio City, Rockefeller Plaza, the Empire State Building, Trump Tower, Central Park, China Town, Macy's, Time's Square. We didn't get a chance to go to The Islamic Cultural Center, the Statue of Liberty, The Met, up the Empire State Building etc. But Alhamdulilah it was a good day trip.

Compare to Chicago very dirty. Still, something to visit once.
