P.S. the difference is more than just a couple of thousand. I dont think there would be a big question if the price diff between a brand new 2003 car and a used 2000 car was a few thousand. we are talkign double digits and in many cases almost half the price.

I’m actually car less right now but saving up for a cheap second hand car I was actually considering being car less for longer and saving for a brand new car though coz a brand new car is just so much cooler bvut in the end I decided I’ll just buy a second hand car when I have about 2500 saved. I could also buy a total khatara for 1000 but didn’t want to do that. You’re totally right, one has to balance everything…unless one has an unlimited supply of money… which is my ultimate goal :roman:

i would only go for new cars if i dont have to sell it for good next 10+ years, and in that case my wife will be driving that car. caz she says as long it has 4 tyres and drives well i dont want to change it:)

as for me i would go may be 3-5 years old top of the range model so will get best deals and will not lose much either when i will sell it.

from my expirience, dont every buy a Mitsubishi Diamante (Magana in AUs) and they are the bad investment. the cars are awesome but bad invetment. :(

cars in generral are bad investments, unless you buy a classic car, all others depreciate, some more than others.

I have never looked at a car as an investment, but as an expense, some of which I am able to recoup when I am getting ready to sell it. The diference in many cases is not large enough to warrant being worried about resale value. if there is a few thousand difference in the resale value of car1 vs car2 after 5 years of ownership, and you spread that few thousand over 60 months its marginal..so buy a car that you like, and you enjoy driving as long as it is dependable i.e. stay away from pontiac etc :D

i just hate to pay interest on used cars...i love the 0% financing but all the good cars don't offer that..yo kami i m going to go pick up my car in few minutesssss
