Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

you can get Americans to hate puppies or ponies even as long as you continue the negative coverage long enough in all media.. It's very easy to do..

But take comfort in the fact that the public has a very very short attention span and almost no long term memory.. you can easily change the propaganda to another race/ethnic background and they'd forget about Muslims...

Next up.. Chinese.

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

it's really a disservice to lay all the blame on media or bush or jews. 9/11 was caused by osama, not media. palestine suicide bombing was caused by them, not jews. yes, iraq war was caused by bush and he had strong help from saddam. Oh, let's not forget daisy cutters in afganistan - that was caused by taleban and you know who were supporting taleban till 9/11 happened and Musharaf acted

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Okay, here is what I present.

The Qur’an Has Become the Best Selling Book in America

The 9/11 tragedy caused the growth of Islam in America to accelerate greatly. One of the clearest indications of this is that after the attacks, the Qur’an became the best-selling book in many states for a long time. American interest in the Qur’an increased to such an extent that Penguin Books, one of the best-known publishers of the Qur’an in English, reported that it had printed 20,000 extra copies after 9/11.

*USA Today *reported on this intense interest in “People Want to Know, so Koran is Bestseller,” saying that **sales of the Qur’an had increased by five times. **When asked for his view on this matter, a leading expert in Islam, John Esposito, emphasized an important point:

People in the state of Maine had a very keen interest in Islam. A few days after 9/11, there was a large increase in sales of the Qur’an and books on Islamic history. On September 22, the Bangor Daily News reported on the people’s interest in Islam in “Mainers Studying Tenets of Islam.” This article said, in part:

The Guardian featured an article by Jeremy Rifkin, the well-known American economist, in which he said that he was ashamed that he had not read anything about Islam prior to 9/11, and that now he was not the only one engaged in learning about Islam:

I’m ashamed to admit it, but before September 11, I didn’t pay much attention to Islam. I had a cursory knowledge of the historical struggle between Israel and its Arab neighbors. I knew a bit about the struggle with the west over oil… It took the deaths of 5,000 Americans in a horrific act of terrorism to get my attention. **Like so many others, I have been reading up on Islam-its tenets, internal struggles, . . . visions. . . , its similarities and deep differences with Christianity and the West… I’m not alone. Seven of the 15 lead books on the New York Times paperback bestseller list are devoted to Islam. The Koran has become a bestseller. The whole world, it seems, has been converted into a classroom as we try to make sense out of the tragic events of September 11 and its aftermath. **

American Congress opens for the first time with a reading from the Qur’an (Middle) The US Congress will open with a reading from the Qur’an; In 2001, another historical event occurred. Every year when Congress begins its new session, there are readings from the Bible. This year, there was a reading from the Qur’an. This was an important event for all Muslims, and no one could have guessed only a few years ago that the Qur’an would be recited in the political heart of the world’s only superpower. This is an example of how much Islam has grown in America. Maryland State Senate opens with a reading from the Qur’an.

As in other parts of America, the number of Muslims is increasing in Hawaii. The majority of converts in Hawaii are military personnel. One of them is Heather Ramaha, who works for the navy at Pearl Harbor. Her husband is a Muslim, and she decided to convert after 9/11. Hakim Ouansafi, president of the Muslim Association of Hawaii, reported that after 9/11, there was a visible increase in the number of Muslims in Hawaii. According to him, before 9/11 only about 3 Muslims converted a month; in the two months after the attacks, 23 people converted.(Above) Reports about Muslims in Hawaii newspapers. In the report on the left, the president of the Muslim Association of Hawaii condemns the 9/11 attacks. The report on the right is about the rising conversion trend in Hawaii since 9/11.

And in the end, a a qoute from Quran

He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion, however much the idolaters may be averse.

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

^ To be clear, are you saying 9/11 was a message from Allah to America for turning Americans to Islam? That doesn't sound like a holy act that any God would resort. remember, Gandhi said there are is no such thing as means jutifying ends.

Secondly, if the message was to idolators, why Manhattan? The bigger temples are in Queens and NJ!

Finally - if you call this 'rise of Islam' I don't know whether to pity you or censure you. Just plain dumb!

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Thats the response of a disoriented person. Anybody reading my post can make sense out of it. Let me convey the message in simple words for you so that you can understand.

There was an INCREASE in the popularity and growth of Islam after 9/11 as evident from my post. More people converted to Islam. Islam is the religion of God, directly revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and it can not be harmed by such vulgar methods. More it is attacked, the more it flourishes as is observed after September 11. And this is also clear from a verse of Quran which says, " He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion, however much the idolaters may be averse".
Pickthal 9:33

I hope you can rectify your misunderstanding dude.

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Allah said in the Holy Qur’an:

**God disdains not to use the similitude of things, lowest as well as highest. Those who believe know that it is truth from their Lord; but those who reject Faith say: “What means God by this similitude?” By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake (the path) [26] Al-Baqara
**Yusuf Ali

**Surely Allah is not ashamed to set forth any parable-- (that of) a gnat or any thing above that; then as for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord, and as for those who disbelieve, they say: What is it that Allah means by this parable: He causes many to err by it and many He leads aright by it! but He does not cause to err by it (any) except the transgressors,[26] Al-Baqara
**Shakir

**Lo! Allah disdaineth not to coin the similitude even of a gnat. Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord; but those who disbelieve say: What doth Allah wish (to teach) by such a similitude ? He misleadeth many thereby, and He guideth many thereby; and He misleadeth thereby only miscreants; [26] Al-Baqara

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Even muslims themselves are ignorant of their religion. ant this is true for the muslims who offoer namaz five times a day. yes it's true. all they know is islam is in danger- the idea spread few snugheads of middle east and that creats the unrest all over the world

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Wow, i must say you guys are pretty retarded if you are so easily influenced by the media. 9/11 this and 9/11 that. It seems like before 9/11 there was no mention of any form of terrorism.

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Bombay Bhaio,

Don’t divert the topic. Topic is not “who did 9/11”
The topic is the “Popularity and growth of Islam after 9/11”

DO YOU UNDERSTAND ??? :snooty:

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

[quote=phoenixdesi]
It is extremely disturbing to see all major polls and surveys in USA showing an increasing amount of hatred towards Islam with more and more Americans expressing unfavorable views of Muslims. It is sad to know that today more Americans think of Islam as an “evil religion” and Muslims being “arrogant and aggressive” than in the tense months after 911. Distinguished professor Juan Cole at University of Michigan has rightly pointed out that Muslims in USA are facing a real danger in coming years. His exact words are “*This two-faced policy and self-contradictory rhetoric has contributed to growing hatred and bigotry toward Muslims in the US, which is no less worrisome than the hatred Jews faced in Europe in the 1920s. It is dangerous because of what it can become”. *

Americans are dense..they should first of all realize that democrats and republicans are using them to serve their own political goals..their politicians care more about the jews in Israel than they care about them...why?because jews in America are the biggest source of money for these politicians to run their political campaigns...it is the richest country in the world yet health care is not free overthere..Americans should open their eyes to their own faults first...as for unfavorbale view of muslims ..well given what they had to witness on t.v and elsewhere,,,the beaheadings and all...I don't think I can blame them...but they should know that all muslims are not like talibans

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

yet another ridiculous claim from lahore. Korans sold because 9/11 brought a of NEGATIVE attention to Islam. Univs, spy agencies and law enforcement bough the books for not so subtle reasons.

I don't know why some people are so obsessed about religion to twist even 9/11 to be a msg from Allah. just plain twisted

Re: Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing in USA - A Dangerous Trend

whenever people talk abotu growth of islam it makes me laugh: honestly what do u expect when there are only two proselytizing religion in the world islam and christianity and one of them has morality to allow free rligious practice where other carefully guards its forte by not allowing free relligious preaching for anythign other than islam in their own backyard........ any guess who wud be the winner in this skewed race............ if islam and muslim world really has faith in its preaching let us see this barrier on religious preaching go away in islamic world and then u can match the number........
meanwhile after beslan : 5 million people left the fold of islam in russia and 50000 entered but muslims will never tell u about the former:-)
